1 October 2022
Yes, some folks have crashed actual vehicles to test Apple’s new safety feature.

Simple: DRIVE SAFELY! These technologies are no quick fixes. Even if they auto-call SOS when you are dead already, what is that to your soul anyway? DRIVE SAFELY and be ACUTE about your surroundings.

Anonymous, 03 Oct 2022"You're crashing it wrong!" :))Yeah, that's my worry - junkyard crash tests certainly simulate car accidents, but speed, airbags going off, abrupt deceleration, etc are all accounted for typically, so Apple's reply does nothing to reassure anyone their detection will actually work in the situation of a real car crash (the same question is valid for Google's car detection feature as well).

Also, if you're a passenger, your phone contacting emergency services can be a valuable backup, not to forget your personal contacts will be alerted (rather than the driver's only).

CarPlay and Bluetooth status is counter productive. It consumes the battery faster so it might not trigger it since it's already dead battery lol

I get that the car has to be moving (fast enough) for the phone to detect that it's in a car. But think about it a little bit and I don't think many people would want this feature on. When you crash it makes an emergency call for services (ambulance / police / fire). Legally I'd say your device just admitted you're at fault for the accident. Then again, I guess the target market for iphones don't really care how much their car insurance premiums are.

The way you act is really abnormal. Anyway, the thing is that the guy misunderstood that you have to confirm the call. That isn't the purpose of the feature. If you're conscious enough to be able to confirm the call, it's most likely that you can call an emergency service yourself. Instead of simply explaining the feature to him, you went on about using themes and launchers. That's nonsensical. And when I simply told you how it doesn't add up, you acted hysterically like a mad man. Really, you should get help.
