If the f-number is really 40% higher, but the focal length is just 10% higher, then I even wouldn't exclude that you could maybe(!) get a slightly worse angular resolution (less reach) due to diffraction...

But due to the smaller effective lens diameter, there will be more softness caused by diffraction, so you would get a smaller field of view, but the advantage regarding reach might be even smaller than 10%. And it would perform worse in low light conditions / average light conditions.
So if my assumption is true, then the new periscope lens is a downgrade. I guess they wanted to reduce the costs.

That's a downgrade in my opinion.

I hope they reduce the camera bump like they did in the 6A. That protrusion on the 6 models was a nightmare for catching on pockets etc.
