Leak: the Pixel 7 duo will have better batteries, different cameras

04 October 2022
The battery saving feature will last 50% longer than on the Pixel 6. Interestingly, the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro are said to have different selfie and ultra wide cameras.

Anonymous, 04 Oct 2022"while the Pro model will have a dedicated 4.8x perisc... moreAt least the official renders indicate that Winfuture is wrong. But maybe the official renders are not correct. There was also a rumor that the periscope camera will use the 12 megapixel Samsung Gm1 sensor, but unless they only use a 9 megapixel crop from the 12 megapixel sensor (this would be marketing nonsense), it could be rather a sensor like the Samsung Gm5.

Pretty sure battery life will again disappoint.

125° is too wide in my opinion. That's equivalent to 11.3mm on a full frame camera. It would have been okay, if they had increased the megapixel count, then the results would be still good at 16mm, etc..

"while the Pro model will have a dedicated 4.8x periscope lens (up from 4.0x on the 6 Pro) with a 48MP sensor behind it."
That's not true. The 6 Pro had a 4.3x camera (103/24 = 4.3). And by the way, there is an advertisement which shows sample images from the zoom levels and I have calculated that the new zoom setting should be 4.7x. So, the increase in reach is nearly nothing, 10%. Possibly 113mm instead of 103mm.

Also, I don't think that Winfuture is correct here regarding the periscope camera. I have found evidence that the periscope lens is much smaller with an effective lens diameter of approximately 4.3mm instead of the previous 5.4mm. I hope that I am wrong because the smaller effective lens diameter would lead to worse low light results, worse autofocus and also softness due to diffraction. Winfuture's specs would indicate that the effective lens diameter is only slightly smaller (still larger than 5mm).

I will only buy Pixel phone if it matches the OS upgrades of Samsung with 4 years of updates and doesn't use crappy ARM GPU.

Better battery life with smaller battery size means they've improved the efficiency of the Tensor which is great news. Even if there's not much of a performance bump, if there's no modem issues and good battery life this will be very interesting to me.

Give me an ultrasonic fingerprint reader and better autonomy and I'll be satisfied! the camera section is good enough already!!! oh and a version of 512 this year is what goes with me since whatever I buy will be with me for a whole year! It's good enough to give money every so often to these manufacturers who haven't been innovating with anything for a long time now

They should be equal, just different sizes. Like older generations.

I hope the zoom quality won't be downgraded due to worse sensor.

Where are the better batteries gsmarena?Pixel 7 rumors say smaller battery and 7pro same as 6pro, what??
