It's a decent albeit expensive first attempt. Add a Snapdragon W5 chipset and a bigger battery and lower price and Google may hit success.

Anonymous, 07 Oct 2022looks like it's perfect for you!No judgment here, you can prefer cucumbers and we can still be friends.

crispcketlicker, 06 Oct 2022This SoC is great actually, Exynos performs nicely on watches. There's no getting around the fact that Google is using a three-year-old SoC. Especially when they're charging more for their watch than Samsung is charging for their Galaxy Watch 5, even though Samsung has used a newer and arguably faster SoC on theirs.

Google better has been working hard optimizing Wear OS for the Pixel Watch, because I don't think that's a performance delta you can overcome by having an extra 512 MB of RAM.

cghj, 07 Oct 2022Why would you want to use your watch always with your phone... moreStill doesnt change my point. When was the last time you left your house without the phone in your pocket? The battery life will be absolute shit and charging two devices at the end of the day is not an enjoyable chore.

With this economy, there's no money for expensive toys.

Anonymous, 06 Oct 2022It's a smartwatch dude.If you want to pay a premium price for outdated technology, go ahead.
Don't give these companies more than they deserve.
The consumer's money will always be more important than their satisfaction.

7hh, 07 Oct 2022Smartwatchs with wifi and LTE are just pointless. What are ... moreWhy would you want to use your watch always with your phone? Doesn`t make any sense. I am doing nfc payments, I am reading notiifcations on my watch. I stream music, while training. My watch is GW4 and I am using it with e-sim. The e-sim is supplementary sim with same number as on my phone and it uses it`s same tariff plan for voice and data. If a watch doesn`t come with gsm module, it is not a smartwatch. It is a shackle to your phone. Nothing more. Each smart device has to work independently for all main functions.

Smartwatchs with wifi and LTE are just pointless. What are you gonna do on that tiny screen? Beside that its gonna kill the battery in no time

lewein, 07 Oct 2022best to watch videos? on a watch? why?Well.. same question to circular.. why?

Sure it is sub optimal to have videos on a watch screen.
                              But with a rect screen,
                              1. you can take video / photos from phone. Using WatchOS's camera remote app. Sure, camera is rounded.. but the sensor that take video / photo is a rect. So what you see in the watch is not cropped in a circular way.
                              2. There is WatchTube.. that allows you watch youtube while you go for a jog or run without your phone.
                              3. When your friend send you a video MMS or iMessage, you can view it on your watch without taking out your phone.. or even if your phone is at home. And again.. those are rect.. not rounded.

All other features benefits from a rect build.
Soc is rect, battery is rect, a rect / squarish design allows you to pack the most stuff inside.

Software ui also display best with rect.
