Yay, I've been waiting for this head-to-head comparison!

The 8+ gen 1 really does stay cooler in all the throttling tests (50-70C), whereas the Dimensity models are like 70-100C. Plus the 8+ barely throttles in X-mode without the cooler attached. Good to know.

Qualcomm needs to add hardware AV1 decoding already. Hopefully the rumors about gen 2 adding it are true.

Nijon, 22 Oct 2022What’s the point when the developers don’t develop/optimize... moreThis is not true, its Qualcomm effort they made good drivers and necessary tools for developer to use.

No one stop Arm/Mediatek/Samsung to make good driver for Mali, they choose to ship devices with broken drivers intetionally because they knew average user know nothing about it.

Asking developer to reverse engineer soc and optimize game is too much.

Nijon, 22 Oct 2022What’s the point when the developers don’t develop/optimize... moreThat's always been the case, developers would optimise for whatever has more market and easier. Apple SoCs come at top, because they have to optimise for very few set of devices. Then comes Snapdragon 8 Gen / 800 series, which have majority market share, still the optimisation is not optimal since each manufactures configures their devices in a different way. In the end comes Mediatek chips, which are new to the market and most of the 9000 series phones haven't left China, and are totally absent from US.

What’s the point when the developers don’t develop/optimize for others than Qualcomm

Just scored 3072 on wildlife extreme...

So the Asus is faster than an iphone 12, dope.

"However, it seems that the Mediatek chips are more prone to heating than the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 when pushed harder as the Snapdragon chipset kept its cool in the GPU Stress test."

                Nothing new ...

Now just need to test internet/call quality on both to see snapdragon is gonna win too

Really nice, but it would be also great if you guys showed how many watts of power they were using as it can show which chip is actually more efficient in its performance.

Nothing of all this will be matter anymore after 8g2 released. Asus should sell ROG phone7 6 months earlier or half year later and use 8g2 or 8g3 respectively.

good comparison test, sorry GSMArena, people want to know the gaming test too but you guys don't show it here. Isn't this a gaming phone?

anyway this 9000+ really fast and cheap? Good job Mediatek. Imagine gaming phone with Exynos lol
