Xiaomi Smart Band 7 Pro review

16 October 2022
Band 7 Pro comes with a few key upgrades over the regular Band 7 and a notable price increase.

Got the Xiaomi Smart Band 7 Pro today and in a way I'm disappointed. Mostly by lack of "reviewers" actually putting in any effort to actually REVIEW the thing and not as much something being wrong with the device (that much). Granted, I'm coming to it from Apple Watch 5, but I'm not having unrealistic expectations because of it.

Main issue is how NO ONE, NOT A SINGLE reviewer mentions Always-on Display in detail. Everyone just glance over "it has one". Watched several and they didn't even bother to actually show it to a point I thought AOD mode would show full display like Apple Watch does, just much dimmer. Well, it doesn't. It always switches into some super basic clock only mode which you can't even select. It's just predefined and it's stupid. Why can't user at least select whether they want a digital or analog AOD mode? Nope, it's locked to watch face and you can't do anything about it. Surely this isn't unrealistic expectation regardless of the fact this one is much cheaper. Within what it can do, they could give user an option, but they haven't.

Is AOD really so "whatever" function that no one seems to give a damn about it but me? I can't stand blank watch faces. I don't get it. And then people wonder why Apple Watch only lasts 1 day on a single charge. Maybe because the AOD is freaking amazing. It's THE SAME as active watch face, just dimmer and large white surfaces are replaced by black ones. But the watch face never really changes. Where here, it's not even the same. And again, I'm aware this is a 100€ band and Apple Watch was like 400€, my main issue is how reviewers don't bother to review AOD properly. And it's super annoying.

It's still a very good band for the price. Some say it's expensive compared to non-Pro model, but frankly, just the extra display size is worth it. It's just slightly narrower than my Apple Watch 5 44mm and about as tall. It's sharp enough and quite bright. No complaints there. But AOD is really pathetic and badly executed. It would be million times better if they at least gave user an option between digital watch, analog without any hour markers, analog with hour markers and both versions of it with and without date. Even if they are simple AOD faces, they should at least offer that much and not be forced to have whatever it's bolted on the active watch face for some reason. Weird.

If you want to use it with a standard band, Stay on Band 6. The only real benefit of Band 7 (IMHO) is the better band attachment for alternative bands....

If they do, its a good thing. If they don't, its neutral, not negative.

Even if they choose not to help anyone, do they deserve to be called smarta**es like you did? That's being toxic & impolite beyond reason.

Most people ask Google for help and here's what was provided:

                        Has call control

                        Xiaomi Band 7 Pro
The device alerts you to incoming calls on your smartphone, and allows you extra control such as muting or rejecting the call.

And again, this is something gsmarena should include in these types of reviews.

If only you had bothered to Google it instead of spreading your bad words and mood here. . .

We have the NFC version of Mi band 6 for sale here in Norway and all stores selling them specify clearly that it will not work with Visa, in example. Only MasterCard though Curve in my region from what I can see. So I got the non-NFC instead. Since I don't really use MasterCard nor Curve.

You are essentially asking people about the functions of a product pretty much only reviewers have access to, at least in many regions. So essentially you should ask the reviewer and truthfully this is something that should be included in a thorough review.

I even tried looking online for a manual link for you, but being as new as it is, it does not seem to be available yet, neither from Xiaomi's pages, nor from someone uploading it.

The Smart Band 7 itself is compatible with both iOS (ver. 12.0+) & Android.

You asked about 1. incoming call being silenced on this watch, and 2. sound recognition apps. Both are related to this smartband.
And one guy did answer you because he has smart band 7, which is good communitarianship on his part.
