The GPU market is insane gamers are really getting cheated by the manufacturers and game developers

What happened too Morse law that said adjusted for modern age
Was technology gets twice as powerful & half the price ever 4 years

For sure GPUs are getting more powerful cheap ?? In your dreams

What has happened is we have the flagship gtx 1080ti then after this GPU was made Nvidia just been adding more expensive flagship tier GPUs at even higher price tags so we have super flagship price GPUs

The system requirements for games made today are stupidity high

4k 120hz basically the standard today
So many high end Monitors

No hope of running games at them Res of the monitor being made today even the rtx 4090ti will struggle with cyberpunk 2077 too get 4k 120fps

But price so sky high
The worsened part is game developers don't care about people with old GPUs and can't afford too upgrade and don't have flagship GPU

Not sure why rtx 4080 naming matter all that much
Was thinking there was going too be a rtx 4080 & 4080ti but whatever

Rip budget gamers
Gaming only for the rich

Or are you actually insinuating that they should've went ahead first and labeled the packaging/GPUs themselves with something like "Not-a-3080" or "Maybe-a-3070" or something? Think, random commenter, think!

    If anything, that scumbag of a company should've covered all of the relabeling costs if it does really wanna show that it's sincere with correcting its mistake.

    The only mistake that the AIBs made was probably not refusing to get bent over by Ngreedia, in which case, EVGA did and I applaud it for doing so.

            "one can't help but feel bad for all the Nvidia board partners, who would have been in late stages of manufacturing, packaging, and marketing the RTX 4080 12GB"

            Feel bad? They deserved it if they put "RTX 4080" on the package

                This isn’t a huge win. The 4080 16GB is still extremely overpriced compared to last gens MSRP

                  Kangal, 16 Oct 2022Some people here are confused. Based on the chipset name w... moreBased on this we can see a trends happening, especially when it comes to price:

                  9-series* -> 10-series = average +12% price difference (-30% min, max +50%)
                  10-series -> 16-series = average +16% price difference (+11% min, max +21%)
                  10-series -> 20-series = average +54% price difference (+32% min, max +109%)
                  20-series -> 30-series = average +5% price difference (-20% min, max +22%)
                  30-series -> 40-series = average +43% price difference (+8% min, max +69%)
                  Averages of averages: -1% min, +26% ave, +55% max = Overall price trend per generation

                  *yes, I went back and calculated the Maxwell series (GTX-900) as well.
                  That's OVER EIGHT YEARS of data calculated for your enjoyment. I haven't included data for inflation or flash/wafer prices as these do fluctuate with several factors, and it may have a "skew" effect on the rough data.
                  ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                  edit: I should've put this data into my original comment, but if anyone is interested, here's the missing ones:

                  100% - $1000 : GM-200-400 _3072 = 9-GTX Titan X
                  _92% - $650 : GM-200-200 _2816 = GTX980Ti
                  _67% - $550 : GM-204-300 _2048 = GTX980
                  _54% - $330 : GM-204-200 _1664 = GTX970
                  _33% - $200 : GM-206-400 _1024 = GTX960
                  _25% - $160 : GM-206-250 _ 768 = GTX950
                  _21% - $130 : GM-206-200 _ 640 = GTX750Ti
                  _17% - $100 : GM-206-100 _ 512 = GTX700

                    Some people here are confused.
                    Based on the chipset name we can tell what is what. The first-two letters tells the generation (higher is newer), after the hyphen the second digits tells the class (lower is better), and after another hyphen the third digits tell its tier (higher is better). But what you really should be judging it by is the number of cores the chipset has, and comparing it to the maximum of that generation.

                        Reminds me of the time when Nvidia released the GT 1030 series cards in two flavours. Those were first released with GDDR4 RAM, but Nvidia quietly released a GDDR3 variant which was noticably slower in performance in all aspects. Unless people were specifically looking for RAM specifications, people were paying the same price for the 3 as the 4. Nvidia borked up again, but at a far higher price point / class of GPU which made the media notice and force Nvidia to u-turn like they have. About time too.

                          Also prices went (way) up long before mining was profitable for laymen.

                          This time around mining was merely one more reason for the high prices , not the main one (unlike 2017 where there were no issues in the production lines).

At the end of the day if you purchased one,you didnt win,its nvidia. They ripped you off and you dont have game to fully utilize your hardware. If game developers develop a game for such a hardware then its a loss for them,because only few people will buy their game because simply older hardware doesnt support it/cant handle it. Forget about nvidia,this company is a history for me. Spend you time with your family and not in front of a pc,spending thousands and wasting time.
