The problem with Android Go is that the system can't do some things the full version has (and its apps require it).
What makes me more angry with android is the fact that many system things are considered "apps" and as such are also updated. Why? Windows doesn't show you system processes as apps to update.

AtomicMarrow147, 20 Oct 2022Can we make custom rom using go edition source code?
That would be really cool
I hope someone makes a Androidgo custom ROM
AndroidGo custom ROM on good hardware should run much more smoother on same hardware then ram hungry full versions of Android
For example let's say Androidgo was installed on a smartphone that has good hardware like the OnePlus 7 pro With Snapdragon 855 & 12gb ram
The smartphone in theory would run super smoothly without any performance problems even the browser should run a lot better if running smoothly was top priority above all else
Also AndroidGo can bring new life into old hardware and smartphones or budget smartphones

Android is too fragmented. And its app developers are too lazy to optimize their apps.
So, iOs is still the best

DaFink, 20 Oct 2022Is Android One still a thing, or have Google pulled a Googl... moreIt's still a thing and from what I can tell, Nokia is the only one using this program. One would expect Android One to be a standard on cheap Android phones, but isn't, because everyone wants to differentiate from the rest with their version of launcher. Only Nokia seems to be that lazy or not care to use it anyway, probably they just rely on their well known "legacy" name.

Sin, 20 Oct 2022Androidgo for budget smartphone too make them smoother expe... moreTechnically, most entry phones are like that or above and since apps are getting more optimized towards higher spectrum phones, I would say bare minimum should be 4 GBs of RAM, 32 GB/64 of storage, because newer entry phones are pretty much that. 720p I think is still fine as long as the screen isn't too large.
Or
Manufacturers could just entirely eliminate entry tier and lower the prices of their mid-range phones. But really the question is what we call entry, because entry could be divided into entirely "it just works" to upper entry where it performs sort of like mid-range, but steps down in terms of hardware 1 stair below mid-range.

XABER, 20 Oct 2022- Please increase the minimum requirement.
- Minimum Ram f... moreAndroidgo for budget smartphone too make them smoother experience on Android
I think Androidgo good for running smoothly but at the cost of features so it's not for everyone
I agree
We do need a minimum spec requirements too stop just garbage hardware being used in smartphones by manufacturers e-waste products
Realistically
minimum requirement should be
2gb ram any speed
16gb storage any speed
Any Res
Any processors
Can be made dirt cheap so it's cheap & cheerful is affordable but at least usability overall is good enough too be functional

Good for weak phones. But for me a midranger is the best. Fast enough and longer battery life than a flagship.

Anonymous, 20 Oct 2022There are even 1GB ram /16GB phones being made.
This is w... moreEven AndroidGo can't save 1gb ram smartphones
There just awful smartphones the ram bottleneck so bad no level of optimization can save them
even the browser keeps closing its self barely any apps work and the everything suffer from the bottleneck
if any manufacturers make there 1gb ram smartphones in 2023 there making e-waste smartphones
Ram in 2023 is a cheap part so no need for the 1gb ram smartphones too be in production any more
Even the slowest cheaper bargain basement speed 2gb ram set is far better than 1gb ram

Instead of making Android OS lighter and faster, Crapggle chose to introduce a crappy version of Android 13

Bought a Android Go device (Samsung Galaxy Core M01) and it has barely received any update thus far. Another series of fragmentation and not sure who to blame. Wished at least security updates but, nothing apart from a few.

No matter how good the optimization is on Android go phones, the laziness of app developers is to be blamed for not optimizing them well enough and pushing the minimum system requirements.

who still buy android go phone? it's not about the OS without ads, no bugs, clean UI.. Most people don't care about this. The problem is that the price of an android go phone is not cheap enough than a non android go phone.
