So Dimensity is fine with me. I did have Xiaomi Mi5 years ago and I really liked it, especially MIUI actually. One of reasons I returned to Xiaomi again with Poco X4 GT. Should get it in coming days, will see how MIUI works now. I did try Xiaomi Redmi 10 recently and it was actually pretty nice budget phone.

It has two series a year in China and this is a China launch. It's launching this Thursday in time for the double 11 shopping festival. They usually launch a note series just before the double 11 festival and another then early Summer

Dimensity SoC, meaning to GCam or custom ROM support = instant no buy
purchased the Redmi Note 11 back on Feb this year when it launched. bought mainly due to its camera as I was told by a multitude of sources that its camera was very good especially for its price. it wasn't. camera was average with the main cam being descent to good and the ultrawide, macro and selfie being bad to terrible. video recording was capped at 1080p 30 FPS!!! no 60fps option at all and no 4k. ported a GCam mod and the camera quality on all cameras became much better! it even added 1080p 60 fps recording and even video stabilization which is absent on the stock camera
but the worst part is EMUI. it's a freaking buggy mess. after 2 months of usage, the cameras, all of them, stopped working saying it cannot connect to the camera or something. I kid you not, I was literally just doing a video conference with FB Messenger when it happened. thankfully, after several restarts, the camera worked again and at that point, I had enough. sold it and got a Galaxy A52s.
that was my first ever Xiaomi phone and I think I'll never get one again

What i really hate about phones today is that they have this camera island that is extended out of the body and now even that is not enough so there is that island and then cameras are still extended out.

Should keep the screen size for Redmi 5.8~6.1, Redmi Note 6.5~6.8 and the same with Xiaomi series 5.8~6.1 and revived the Xiaomi Note series with 6.5~6.8.

wonder why everyone care about camera on "note" series. Note supposed to be wider in size like galaxy note 10 plus, s22 ultra...phone cant be called a note if width is skinny at 78mm or below..redmi note is obviously 74mm so ugly =.=

You can't read much into the global Redmi note 12 pro from this. The Redmi note 9pro, note 10pro, note 11pro and note 11t pro in China were different phones than the global Redmi note variants so likely that will continue. The last 4 China variants mentioned above have been either rebranded as poco phones or Xiaomi phones for global markets but did not come under the Redmi note series in global markets or if they did they had different downgraded chips
