When i talk about phone size then i dont care if it has 5 inch 6 or 7. It matters not in any way as the screen size dont make the phone size as only thing. This phone has 5.5inch screen while have 3mm bezel at top and 10mm at bottom Thanks to the 21:9 ratio it makes the screen wider that means the phone will be taller and adding all the bezel to it then it will be at minimum 150mm. Especially if i look there 6.0 and 6.1 screen phones that are 155mm range while have same amount of bezels.

Feem, 24 Oct 2022In my opinion, Sony is honestly one of the best smartphone ... more1) Except the fact xperia flagships are among the phones with highest costs to be made.
Just because two phones have stuff in common like UFS3.1, ddr5 ram, FHD 120 Hz oled for example, this does not means components are same and cost same.
2) brands that order much higher volume of components are in positin to deal better prices. No supplier wants to lose Apple, xiaomi, samsung and BBk as clients.
Let's do little math here ...
Your product has final price of $100. You make 1.000 units to sell. You have $100.000 of costs.
You decide to sell it for $400. You were able to sell all units. Your revenue was $400.000. You have earned $300.000 before taxes.
You decide to lower retail price to $350 to sell more units. To reach same $400.000 revenue , now you need to sell 1.143 units.
You now need to make 143 units more that will be costing you extra $14.300. Your new cost is $114.300 and revenue still $400.000.
You lose $14.300 despite selling more units of your products.
To counter this, you need to find ways to decrease your costs. Something chinese OEMs can do by using most of pieces from local suppliers. That is kind of move not well seen in Japan.

It will be probably the same size as Sony Xperia 10 IV or Sony Xperia 5 IV
Even tough they are 6.0 and 6.1 inch screens but they have less bezels then this one has

This thing is not compact cause of 21:9 ratio and cause it has large shin of bezel. It be probably same size as Galaxy S22

5,5" 21:9 screen is less than 13cm height.

In my opinion, Sony is honestly one of the best smartphone makers ever, but for the love of god they need to stop holding back in terms of specs.
Is it me or have Japanese companies started holding back in terms of technology? Sony likes to keep some of the “old stuff” like the legendarily useful and needed headphone jack.
I mean, there’s a very specific reason the Xperia 5 IV didn’t really do too well imo… the chipset. The 8 gen 1. It was doomed for that single reason. Otherwise, they can do excellent in everything else.
Sony needs to start getting competitive with pricing though. If they keep their Xperia prices higher than similarly specced phones, then I won’t be surprised if their already somewhat-niche phone division ceased operations within the next ten years.
Personally, I’m looking forward to getting a Sony smartphone. But until a new Sony phone comes out with a 8+ gen 1 or any non-Samsung-fabbed chip, I’ll have to wait… Like I said, in my opinion Sony Xperia phones are probably among the best in the world. They just need to do the right things to gain an even bigger appeal, and it couldn’t have been more obvious than now.

They just dont understand the market. There standard iphones are already compact enough if we compare to majority of Android brand phones that dont have under 6.3 inch screens. Well there is like Galaxy S series standard that usually is at 6.1 inch and makes it smaller but it's like 1 model out of 20 and it's only one model too and it's flagship with premium high price so majority who want compact phone dont see a point of them.
The point of compact phone is to use it as communication device as it's prime function. And for that we dont need the best hardware and camera on the market. Thats why the iphone mini fail too and thats probably also the cause why the SE 4 will fail cause it's based on XR that is 6.1 inch screen and 150mm tall so why would there be a point to get that if you can get the standard iphone that is in same size.

Thanks to the 21:9 and a lot of bezels this phone have it wont be a compact. It probably is taller then even Samsung Galaxy S22 that has 6.1 inch screen.
These 2 things ruin it for me as rest of the specs are good enough for me and well probably 3rd thing that ruins for me would be that it probably will cost around 300 euro or more cause it's Sony

Some companies compact phones means terrible battery life, only Sony knows how to make these compact phones.

5.5" sd 4 gen 1 and 4500mah battery, its going to break battery life records again. I just hope display is good enough, worthy successor of xz1 compact.
