dbjungle, 31 Oct 2022Flip phones should remain a relic of the past.Totally agreeable. At least horizontally screen-folding smartphones try to merge bar-shaped smartphone and a tablet as one device. But vertically screen-folding flip phone? I still can't see the point of that other than looks.

I also know none of that changes what was said about that design being one of the biggest selling points of the razr.

Since outside of China the ZFLip4 is the only one available and accessible to use on any MDM that's the only choice - so of course tech enthusiasts will select it. 2/3rd's being men, again ZFlip4 is the only choice on the market outside of China. Imports of RAZR 2022 is heavily expensive and with an OS update who knows what sources make-shifting Google PlayStore installs if it'll work thereafter.
Without Motorola going full scale global the Razr 2022 is a tough option to select. I still believe it's a better product but warranty and OS update support is crucial for a $800+ device. ESPECIALLY when you consider selling to switch to another device.

Visually, it's incredibly bland. Unlike the original RAZR. In fact I think all of the current Motorola line up is bland. It's good that they're looking more sophisticated but they're very generic.

The looks and s... moreThe original razr had an internal screen that only occupied the top half of the phone, and a flat segmented keypad that occupied the bottom half of the phone. With a small external screen for clock, notifications and other such conveniences. It was also quite curved in its aesthetics. Now, considering how technology has moved on, and what owners now expect for their phones (compared to 20 years ago), that same principal cannot really apply nowadays, without having to make compromises, when trying to combine the latest needs and technology, with the aesthetics of old...

Also this Moto looks more like a clone of the original Z Flip. It does not like anywhere a refined as the newer Flip models.

It is most powerfull and best specced compared to all other competition.
Buying for example Samsung over Motorola is a nonsense because apart the paying for a much more costly device anyone get much less in specs.

If only it is water resistant also, because that hinge hole is questionable to me when i accidentally drop this or if it got was soaked in rain.

Took them to long.
They copied samsung who put way more time and money into the tech yet started off with a much higher price while still using the guts and support of a cheaper midrange.
And now that they are finally upgrading it and dropping the price they took away the iconic razr design that sets it apart in the first place.
