Isn't as simple as back then.

Mediatek really is the AMD of the phone chipsets and Qualcomm is Nvidia. If HiSilicon wasn't gutted by politics then we would have an Intel of smartphone processors as well. Exynos needs to catchup with power efficiency that's on par with any of the three. I wonder when Unisoc will reach Midranger Tier

Even Dimensity 8100 is in minority. Have it in Poco X4 GT and Xiaomi 12T also had it and then list is kinda ending. Dimensity 9100, dream on, you can't even find it.

no chinese flagship can compete apple and samsung outside of china. they are way too overpriced. that's why,mediatek cannot compete with quallcom in any market either. chinese are only competitive in midrangers and low end models.

When you make a phone to sell it for $150-200, any $5-10 more you can trim from Bill of Materials in the end is huge difference.
Basic user will not see difference when using SD450 or Helio P35.
Above $500 mediatek barely exists. Even behind Tensynos.
Nothing besides own will prevents a brand from using 8+g1 for $600 phone , then D9000+ for $1000. They simply dont want.

The dark truth is that not many brands, even mediatek, is willing to do so. I remembered years ago, even OEMs, have to pay a lot to MTK to have their devices updated.
