But I'm already missing some rather basic things like really good built in document scanner or text OCR on any image. My ancient iPhone XR got that as part of iOS updates. Currently running Poco X4 GT and while it's good and has many things already built in, I have to rely on stinky 3rd party apps to do things like this. Sure, it's 360€ phone, but still, many cost way more and don't have this either.

SShock, 31 Oct 2022And people wonder why iPhone users like iPhones. The softwa... moreI think it’s because of how much people are willing to pay for well-known optimization compared to pricing and features as a ratio imo.
I currently use an iPhone 13 Pro Max, and in fact currently typing this on it, and I’d say it’s not for everyone. People like to pay for a Samsung, for example, that has many features compared to an iPhone because the optimization on Samsungs are famously good compared to other android phones. I owned a Galaxy S8 Plus for 5 years before getting my iPhone, so I know. Never “broke” software-wise on me.
I’m an American (I know, you’re thinking I got an iPhone because they dominate here right?) so I can see how the taxes can beat you guys a little when it comes to getting flagships, that’s probably one reason why iPhones are off many people’s lists when it comes to what phone to buy. And honestly, I’m surprised iPhones in general even did well in the beginning. I figured that iPhones would not be hated if they weren’t so mainstream, and like I said, they’re definitely not for everyone.
However I do encourage everyone to try to see one in person if they can. I do eventually see the hate towards iPhones every single time there’s an Apple article but I don’t mind. It’s a bit justified imo. But still, the optimization isn’t a joke despite the infamous walled garden. If people want a phone that just works, try an iPhone first.
I’m actually thinking about getting an Xperia for my next phone (if the Sony Xperia division even exists by then cause it’s gonna be a looong time 😬) as a replacement for my iPhone when it gives up because I genuinely think they’re the best bang for the buck (🇺🇸 slang), despite being pricey. They kept all the good stuff (headphone jack, SD (I think?)) while being on a flagship level. It’s kinda sad to say that said features on a Sony are now a consumer luxury nowadays. I don’t want to use an IEM on a lightning dongle.
Sorry if I went off topic in my pseudo-rant. Thanks for reading 😮‍💨

The software experience is like on whole different level and it's not all just about how many launchers you can install or how many tweaks and settings it has. It's just the whole experience and that also includes updates and how they are delivered.

Samsung may have long software support, but I see their update rollout process is still aechaic just like it was back in Galaxy S2 days. Weeks long waiting to get the same update.

Why not the entire line from the s20 onwards, which are high ranges? why to the current line always? apple whens here updates arrives to iphone from almost 10 years ago both to the current line and to those who still support ios at the same time!! Why give things on a drop count?
