It's actually something like 62% and going down. Also so what? There isn't hardly any competition in foldables, because companies don't see value there and the overall sales are very small

here in Slovakia 90% o... moreDevelopment of a new thing, like this foldable tech, costs a huge huge amount of money. Like 100s of billions.
Now they get their Research and Development money from the early (5 years) adopters, where they can charge a premium and while they don't have competition.
When competition moves in prices drop and profits drop.
So in order there to be inovation that later would become cheap, the early adopters premium pays for it.
In other words you have to thank the early adopters that paid extra, for the cheap product you have now in your hands.

Also Samsung has some dual lock thing making it boot wery slowly, like double time than Xiaomi. Also Mi has some models that are Android One, that is stock android. And is custom rom friendly.

A lot of people still require sd card provision, so if Samsung decides to go ahead copying Apple, its gonna lose a lot of customers for sure, including myself.

Minimum vage salary for slovakia for month is 640 euros from 2023 it will be 700.
700 netto so like 1200 gross after tax and paying all necessary bills you will be happy if you can spare 20-50 euros for next month or worse times.
Czech republic or Polland is the same.
Many of our people works abroad just because of better salary but you have to trust me 90% of population on average earns less than 1000 and most people get minimum vages and thats it.We are the most or second most poor country in EU.

Samsung has excellent game optimization add-ins you won't find on any other phone, they are also well known for not cutting back on using graphene inside the phones to keep them as cool as a passively cooled phone can be.
Let's not forget that Samsung is also the brand best at timely software updates. Even providing them faster than Google. In the other end, you'll find your Chinese "release and forget" phones where you're lucky to see a few minor updates before they're left to rot on outdated software.

Human Development Index of Slovakia is top50 on Earth. This cant be achieved if too high % of population has too litlle income.

Anonymous, 01 Nov 2022i lowkey kinda want to recommend samsung to make a foldable... moreI anticipate Samsung will do this. They may also make a Fold variant with a smaller secondary screen. At these prices there is no way foldables are going to make up a large portion of their sales w/o offering cheaper options.
But, I'm still not sure the Fold is ready to be in the hands of everyday consumers unless Samsung addresses some issues. Average consumers are not going to baby their phones.

I originate from a country where the monthly pay is around 950 euro a month with a good job, but I live since 30 years in one where same job earns you at least 2,5 times that.
I am maybe not able to buy a Fold 4 each month, but I have plenty of savings to go out right to the store and get one.
Yes I am the "lucky" citizen of a country where that is possible... meanwhile in the rest of the world people are happy if they have like 50 euro a month.
But let's not go that route, you are right, just because someone has a different opinion it does not give others the right to assume they can not afford it.
I work at a tech company, and often expensive hardware goes through my hands.
CPUs and GPUs for servers that often cost more than my monthyl income, and mind you I have a good pay and can afford buying good healthy food, pay my bills and have some money left to do fun stuff with my partner and kids.
I can technically not afford it, well maybe if I use my savings but that would be stupid.
But I can have a full fledged opinion about that hardware and can have critisism about all the super expensive hardware I work with, because it's my job and I (sadly) know more about that stuff than how to cook.
But by the logic of the one you replied to I should not be able to have a opinion.
Because I can not afford it.
And you can not have a opinion

My monthly paycheck, including my bill has enough room to buy a Fold 4 every month, is that what you wanted to hear?
Because I hate going that route, I don't think I am better than anyone because I have good job, but this world is stupid and thinks the other way around, so I rather shut up unless I go the "full sarcasm route".
Just because someone has critique on something, doesn't mean they can not afford, just like me being able to buy a Fold 4 every month including all my bills and having money left over, doesn't mean I would ever buy it.
Not even for fun and giggles, because I don't spend money on stuff I don't need, and while I am a poweruser, I rather do most of that type of stuff on my PC instead, and thus most phones, even a cheapo phone would be enough for me.
Live and let live, next time think for a while if your comment makes any sense, because it did not, you replied to my comment in a way that doesn't make any sense no matter how I put it.
Unless I go the "because you can" route.
Having critisism on something doesn't mean someone doesn't have it, can not afford it, of never used it.
You should hear me rant about every phone brand I have had, LG, Google, Apple, Samsung, Motorola and so on, you name it.
Because every device, phones, pc or even a water cooker does have their pros and cons depending on the brand.
I don't hate on any phone brand, I just tell it the way it is.
Worst case is me not prefering some brands, but I would never make my opinions hang on it.
