Durability test reveals weakness in Pixel 7 Pro's metal visor

01 November 2022
The Pixel 6 Pro survived the bend test in JerryRigEverything's video from last year. The 2022 model fares less well.

DRCROC, 01 Nov 2022All you need is a protective case, then you're good to go.Most of pixel cases do not even cover the metal visor. Even google official store case. Seems like poor designing to me.

Not tests that I care about. I always buy a screen protector and lightweight case before ordering a new phone. I've never broken a phone or cracked a screen in 15 years, and I'm an outdoor endurance athlete.
The tests that I think are most useful for real world are a 5 foot drop. On the back, front, and corner. Wood floor and concrete. That's happened a handful of times to me, but the protector and case have always prevented any major damage.

Also what was up with scratches on back from razorblade? I've never ever seen ANY blade ever make scratches on glass. Ever.

Anonymous, 01 Nov 2022Putting a sticker on your phone does not add any protection... moreYes it does. Scratch protection. I can't believe people only see intact or smashed states. Scratches make things look horrid while not being technically broken or shattered.

I'm not sure what people do with their phones, but having owned mobile phones since 1992, I have never scratched or cracked anything on my phones.

Just went outside to my 12000 euro car with my Utility knife, thing sitting outside the whole day, won't Scratch easily. At the end it's just an other p.o.s. too......

Just another one of Google's cost cutting measures (like they do with everything). Move along, nothing to see here...

Metal of any sort scratches with a razor blade. Dumb testing

It was just done so that people can differentiate between pixel 7 and 7 pros as the 7 pro has an extra camera cutout. Now people can't showoff with a regular pixel 7 as it's not top of the line so they'll end up buying 7 pro. Sorry for my English but you get my point

It's a good thing I decided not to buy this, and not to take away from the fact that I really like stock Android, Google just wants to make money doing minimal effort, assembling old Samsung socs and rebranding them! I hope that for pixel 8 they return to snapdragon and leave aside the samsung stoves
