"No platforming" is the exact opposite of "Freedom of Speech". Some WOKE employees in that company is laughable.

If it wouldn't be so damn entertaining, one would consider this might get serious.
And Elon should watch out, politics is a completely different minefield.
I assume this is completely beyond his capacities.
Which is not meant diminishing. Actually the opposite.
He is a different type of animal, and that's one of his strengthes (and of all those other wizkids that build their own reality).

Anonymous, 04 Nov 2022Not quite sure why he would buy that company.$ bubble surrounded by yes men ridding coat tails, sustance abuse.. Elon is drinking his own cool aid and believes the 'hype'.Now probably sees himself as a visionary with a special gift etc. With no one to keep him grouded, he lost himself and will never be the same.

This is like watching a car crash in slow motion. Hate speach up 500% enemy states licking their chops because it's they've been given the ultimate weapon to destroy a state without the crazy high cost of a conventional war.

Don't get me started on that. I'm fundamentally positive on Elon, in some regards even adore him. But one thing is for sure: sometimes "brilliant ideas" cross his mind like a meteor ("free speech", as if Twitter was the locked down megafone of a failed absolutisctic state) which are good enough for a brief kick, and his audience then fuels the fire with their attention.
End of the game: he got carried away into a rabbit hole he didn't fully understand to begin with and therefore never had a chance to fully think through in all their real-world contraints, complications and consequences.
At least he actually realised that in time and wanted to withdraw.
But too late, because Twitter was dump enough to insist on their new fate to be fulfilled.
As much as i pitty all those fired employees, which are the only/actual experts on this matter and who actually built Twitter and who now have to pay with their real lives/careers for a foolish idea (from someone who was not even member of their organisation) and misjudgements of executives which were not up to their job.
                Disgusting, and tragic.
I hope, users feel estranged enough from their twitter they loved and find s.th. better.
Or better: someone builds the fixed version of the original twitter.
Cutting half the workforce and putting the suvivors under pressure will certainly not spur any brilliant idea to fuel that effort. But engineers who share a common interest and are not interfered by foolish activism would possibly do.

Musk doesn't have a clue about what he's doing. Moderation and advertiser driven revenue is HARD and Twitter was doing pretty well at figuring out as social conditions change. The platform will be worthless in 2 months unless Musk can hand it off to somebody competent. Advertisers aren't going to pay for placement on a racist, fascist, conspiracy theory dumpster fire, or whatever plague of stupidity comes along next.

Worse still, Twitter is technologically an easy platform to build. Even a little stumble opens the doors wide open to replacement by competitors.
