But Apple always do that: Wait until other spend time and money on R&D then pick it up when technology is refined and sell it as their own...

We can mock iPhones and iOS as much as we want but in terms of marketing and putting stuff in devices Apple is master in this game as no one care who made technology, who was first or for how long others had it. As far as Apple make ad about it people will think its Apple made it.

It was done in 2014. Iphone 6+.
Super high tech, clamshell without the need of foldable screen.
            Way ahead of current tech.

Such a wonderful news from China, because Samsung also supplies foldables display to many chinese brands.

Not true at all, it’s actually 62% and going down. China is biggest growing foldable market and Samsung isn’t doing well there, it’s owned by Huawei foldable and the growth going to happen in China if anywhere.

More than 80% of foldable phone consumers use Galaxy Z series.

Do they really need foldable phone? Not really. They buy Z series because they want to show others that they HAVE Samsung Z Series/ foldables.

This is why chinese brands and also Apple will have a hard time trying to penetrate foldable phone market.

People who are using their foldables as a daily driver for more than a year are experiencing screen damages. That's not good enough, u less you are willing to spend $1000 a year for a new phone every year.

cyber, 04 Nov 2022no chance getting me to foldables, not today, tomorrow or eve... moreI've owned three generations of the Flip. The first one admittedly felt fragile the first few months, as the concept is a bit mind bending when you think on how easily a regular phone breaks. After a few drops, with no signs of damage, I accepted that it is a much safer technology than non-foldables.

Three phones later and still no damage on any, except for some scratches on the rear of my Flip4.

If the screen is 100% protected from impact when you drop it, it is very unlikely you'll break it. The ability to flip also absorb a lot of the damaging impact.

people will buy foldables and after realizing that they don't have any advantages over normal phones, they will stop buying them. just for a square format screen, which isn't handy at all, you get less screen resolution, scratchable display, weak body, worse camera and smaller battery.

Apple will just charge twice the price of an iPhone, because it folds it's like 2 devices (using stupid logic to justify insane pricing).
