The latest generation Sony phones aren't mediocre. The Xperia Z is one hell of a competitor. Apple is a day late and a dollar short on their specs and Samsung will be hard-pressed to compete with what everyone wants - a phone they can bathe with!

yeah ok SONY is good is this is that but the battery sony is using sucks so what is the use of making the best mobile when if u whant it to last u need to put off all special so the battery will last 30 %more

SONY knows about electronics more than any one but knows nothing about marketing. Another thing is Sony thinks general people knows about technology but the fact is 90 percent people actually don't. To get customer u will have to reach their door step like Sammy does. The way they are approaching will be enough technologically but sure will lack strategy. Everything I bought from SONY was built with quality but just because of advertisement I bought Galaxy Ace and Samsung 500gb hard disk and both of them are dead now. The point is they were able to take my money and market share because of advertisement and because I didn't know about tech that much then. It is called marketing, marketing will sell ur product not the product itself. SONY should learn.

just a reminder that arc s, neo v is not from sony as SE launched that phones now sony has re-create its mobile division.

sony make good hardware and fill their phones with great software but i have owned a neo, arc s, xperia s and xperia t and all but the arc have been buggy and even then , once the arc got its ice cream update it was rendered almost useless

chocowii, 04 Mar 2013Who knows electronics more than Sony?clearly they dont... thats why they've lost their name in practically EVERY market they've ever entered. sony is no longer dominant in phones, tv's, computers, mp3 and audio devices, cameras/video cameras... the only market they've held their name is video gaming.. and they're about to lose that with the next generation xbox, ouya, mobile gaming, and wii.
I used to love sony, but i always hated how they ripped people off. they always came up with their own versions of everything that would force you to continue buying their things.. i.e. sony camera uses only a sony memory stick.. sony walkmen/mp3, only allowed sony headphones/remote.

good luck with that. Samsung, LG and apple will remain in its order. sony is just old and useless. there is no innovation with sony. Samsung is so much better than sony and more reliable

i believe in Sony and im sure that they can make it
just take this point Sony: it is difficult to reach this goal with just high end phones. you need to come up with perfect mid-range and low end phones and flood the market with them.
don't forget about the importance of marketing and advertisement.

is not about knowing how to make a wonderful device, is about actually selling it, and get people to buy it, sadly, sony mobile does not know how to do either, the xperia active was not officially available by carriers anywhere in the whole America, neither north or south, same goes for xperia go, and now the Z, instead they officially launch the cheap products, or not the flagships, as far as we know all America will get is the ZL, and the other devices are still out of reach, sony will stay behind china, since china does sell everything they can, everywhere they can, sony mobile does not, this will make it impossible for them to beat Chinese companies, also sony mobile's consumer support is near to nonexistent whereas htc and Huawei could go pair with samsung in some places so NO sony wont make it, not while they keep their mind as it is.

Sony phones software comes with bugs out of the box,I have been using xperia tipo ,we complained and report somany bugs found in OS but sony don't solved it . Tipo is suite for android 4.1,sony don't update to it.But samsung gave update for budget ics devices to JB. over all price of sony devices is higher,so sony is not a good smartphone maker.

Now its a new batch of people to get fooled by WP8. I admit that i havent seen so very many 820 and 920 for sale, but thats because these have not sold well here. For example the 920 was outsold by xperia V in both January and February in all major carriers here, and thats NOT because the Xperia V has sold well. Its getting worse, no LTE enabled phone from a tier one manufacturer sold less than 920, except of course the 820. Naturally not many will sell their brand new Lumia when noone bought a brand new Lumia to begin with. The word is that WP8 sold well only in Britain, and her "well" means "more than nothing"
