Qimchi, 14 Nov 2022Think about the group photos you wouldn't be able to t... moreAh, I read the article wrong, it shares key hardware with the R7, not Leitz Phone 1, so on paper at least it has quite some extra resolution compared to the 1st generation. If its 47.2MP is effective, as in regular bayer, then at this sensor size it could definitely make a difference since everybody else at/near this size has gone at least quad bayer if not worse, since Lumia. Given proper lighting and preferably good stacking, it could do a solid 35 equiv.

    And I didn't say to throw out the 19 equiv. in the case of this smartphone, just to add a 50, because a 19 is too limiting, and there should be some form of upgrade.

I've used a 25mm f1.4 on the Lumix GF1 for hybrid shooting, its nice but tight for 16:9 videos. 35mm equiv would be more usable especially for this smartphone and it would still have some subject separation.

            im sticking to s22 ultra believe me or not it was 1320 euro, this phone cost more with 54MP Leica lens..

Back in the days of film, one can walk around a city with a 50, in fact many can, it's considered a discipline to be able use a 50mm for practically everything. But very few can with a 19mm, and doing so is considered experimental. True that you can crop the UWA view of course, but it beats the point of the sensor and still lacks the subtle subject separation that something longer could at the same aperture.

                      Catalin, 10 Nov 2022Leica in well known for making excellent lenses with top no... more??? why not? huawei mate 50 pro has excellent xmage periscope camera. leica phones are just the next iphones: promising being superior in every case and pretending premiumness but finally you get half of what other brands offer for a price that exceeds by far the next competitor.

                        I think Australia is getting it as we have a specs page on the website and when to expect release so yay me and other Aussies

Maybe Japanese people are not thinking like this and they are fine with one, but you see Sony what can do, and Sony is Japanese, so things are weird.
                          I am pretty sure the R8 will have a multiple camera setup.

                                FatShady, 11 Nov 2022no clue if it's sarcasm or not, but sharp had a phone ... moreIt's not a sarcasm and yes i know sharp has 240hz too. It's just weird to see it on a phone.

                                  Leica should have used rhe newer 1inch Sensor made by Sony and funded by Xiaomi. Just rehashing older tech is just unnecessary.

I am using Xperia X Compact as office phone and Xperia Tablet Z LTE to watch movies daily, it's really amazing how the battery and display still performing after so many years of usage :)

                                        However, I find Sony devices not as robust as other brands, need to use with care and they can easily last 10+ years!
