HTC sales continue to plummet in February

HTC's problem is that they make phones that appeal to a small minority. Specs don't sell phones and that's something HTC need to learn. They just put raw specs in their phones without anything added themselves.
For example the HTC One comes with the most cutting edge
display technology. Super LCD 3! But do nothing with it.
The Sony Z which uses a vastly inferior TFT LCD panel produces much better video playback quality. Why? Sony has its Bravia engine technology to bring to bear.
HTC phones just have raw specs and little else. Their designs too just lack the understated charm needed to appeal to a wide audience. It's the stuff of certain types of people. Well in this game, you want to appeal to as many as possible, not just a niche.
Even the few spec loving chaps who buy their phones get frustrated by the support they get from the company.
It's not rocket science, if your products aren't appealing to the many, and you can't keep happy the few whose patronage you receive, then you can't be surprised that your business is going bust. Sorry HTC fanboys, the HTC One willdo nothing to turn the tide. Here in the UK, its popularity ratings are very low on all the retail sites, best I've seen is 17%. On the other hand, the Sony Z has an average rating of 55% while the newly announced S4 is already showing ratings as high as 94%. Says it all. HTC only have the reputation they have, because the geeks who make up the tech sites keep praising their devices while the rest of us overlook them.

I would want to reflect the sentiments of some opinions posted here by saying that HTC products are of good quality but overpriced. Then there's that other aspect of their attitude towards their customers and here's the paradox, HTC makes real solid and durable phones, some that can live for years, if and only if HTC took a bit of time and a bit of decency to continue upgrading those phones that have the hardware capable of handling the upgrades. For example my Evo 3D is a robust phone and most endearing, it has what's needed for the Jelly Beans upgrade, yet HTC so far seems to have condemned it to oblivion. What makes it more ironic is the fact that other brands have upgraded some of their phones when they had a lot less capacity than the Evo 3D. HTC is fast losing its client base, due to its own disloyalty to its client. I am now considering moving to Samsung or Sony.

HTC needs to rethink of its pricing of its products... concentrate on the volume rather than flag ship.. reduce the price by atleast 30% -35% to remain float in the market ..otherwise BYe BYe HTC

Anonymous, 06 Mar 2013HTC one should bring in some cash... but I don't think it w... moreBeing the gingerbread man on my dinc2 is why I went with the Note 2 on upgrade recently. I did not trust HTC to do differently if I went with the DNA at this tme given my dinc2 experience. If HTC cannot or will not reasonably update its smartphones over a contract period it does not deserve a permanent customer. If it shapes up its act I will consider them in about 2 years when upgrading again.

::: HTC is no longer my choice :::
Terrible customer service when you get into phone issue.
I had HTC and missing phone calls. Contacted HTC and found that phone is under warranty, they asked me to send the phone for repair, 9 weeks later I recieved phone as-is, contacted the manager again and she said send it back but she can not gaurantee any time frame.
The phone is now being used as alarm clock.
No more HTC for me

hey HTC, read these comments so you know why you're on the slide down. I have an HTC Desire V. I bought it because it was a dual SIM phone which I need and it's specs were the best for a dual SIM phone the time it was released. But after 8 months of using this phone, I was disappointed. Hardware design is very good, very stylish. But the thing that made me dislike it is the UI. Talk about terrible animation and lacking a lot of it! The default Android is better than this. Another is terrible messaging! If you send a message, you will have to wait for it to be displayed in the list of messages before your newly sent message appears! Damn! Conclusion, not satisfied with it. I'm already considering on replacing it already.

Well wait...and wait...and wait for an update too? I bought Sensation XE that was year and some month ago, and all I get is Android 4.0.3 and Google announced Android 5. And next year HTC will release the same hardware(just a little bit modified) like Sensation XE with Android 5 and you will have HTC One (a flag ship phone) and you will still wait and wait for an update.. I love HTC and I am using HTC phones for 5 years in a row but now, I do not think so I will by my next one...sick of waiting..

The problem with HTC is that it is not a cool brand. If I think of HTC, I think of a boring business cellphone brand that will seriously cramp my style. Even though the technology is brilliant. I love the HTC One. Best tech phone currently on market and small enough to really enjoy...but is still HTC and that's why, even though I am a techie, I'd rather take the Sony Xperia Z even if it is slower. HTC should change their image to a more social friendly cool brand and then focus on building on that. And yes it is really that bad. HTC brand = style cramper. Sony, Samsung, Apple = Style camper.

In India, the primary factor affecting the sales is very very very poor after sales service. I have heard this from many and later had horrific experience with ASS. They taking more than 2 months and umpteen calls to get the issue fixed.
Unless ASS is addressed, they would perish.

Dear htc, you can't expect your customers to be fooled forever. Once they buy you crap, they don' buy it next time. It's not about bad marketing, it's about your crap products.

htc is a useless company and also now that we all know the story of butterfly. so this how the new ONE we continue to fail kos have said and told the CEO that if they want to challenge the big boys like APPLE,NOKIA AND SAMSUNG. They should reduce the price of their phones like the butterfly and one should be 400 dollars if they want to get back 2d business. Because HTC believes that its customers are silly, so it releases very limited feature products with very high price. HTC always sells its products at higher price tag than Samsung, but the specification is inferior. Almost every HCT phone has poor battery life while its competitors boost battery performance

Phone Shop Man, 07 Mar 2013From my experience working in a phone shop environment for ... moreYour mistake was that you along with (SO MANY OTHERS)thought that just buying an HTC phone preloaded with CARRIER crap ware and built in HTC GUI was the greatest thing. You never did your home work. Most people now a days are like that. Especially Americans.
Find a REAL live person (not on the Internet) that has a Nexus Device like the Nexus 4 and ask them to show you it. Then you will understand why just making an Android phone just is not the same thing, as HTC thinks.
