over priced ijunk is still doing business because there are millions of spoiled narcissists people and so called tech tubers around the world who want to exercise their narcissism by using the bitten apple logo.
I actually thing apple is not bad here. this company is here to do business. When apple realized that narcissists are their main fan, Apple understood that a narcissist would pay any price to exercise narcissism. Being a very intelligent company, Apple just using this great treasure of narcissists. If I were in Apple place I would do the same.
If apple put a low price tag for their junk then they might looss those narcissists. any business person know that only two thing is important for such person.

Typical 1 step forward 2 steps back just for product segmentation. First adding more ads that even employees internally disagree with, now straight up not adding a very simple feature just to not cannibalize. Tim Apple is going nuts lately

The question is how they managed to stick to USB 2.0 speed on >$1k phones for this long, including the current gen of iPhones.

Wow...innovation huh Apple? A phone that will cost way above 1000 euros still stuck on usb 2.0 (tech that was released in 2000, 22 years ago). Could i assume the vanilla models will still be 60Hz? wow...just wow. Like a famous tim cook parody song on youtube "only apple can make such amazing software and services". Yeah...

If Apple uses USB C 3.2 for the iPhone 15 pro max next year I will be upgrading my iPhone 12 pro max.No more lightning cable which would be wonderful news.🤡☺🤑
