I've received an update to Android 12 recently on my Chromecast with Google TV. Hoping it will be the best improvement for the future update such as Android 13.

    You will have to side load it, but once that is done, the app can update itself. It even skips the sponsor messages, like the annoying Segue's from Linus Techtips :D

      BTW, I don't like Google TV at all, I prefer to have the Android TV launcher as it gives you much more control, but unfortunately that is not possible (at least not without rooting the device).

          not at all true. Its the apps you download and use that sell your data, not android.

            It is Android 13 for TV, but the official OS name is Google TV, it is not Android TV 13, there is no more Android TV brand

The likelihood is slim if you use grapheneos, microg and foss apps(the only part you have to worry about then is spyware and government surveillance)

                      few months back ? if yes, then maybe some hope for major update

                      if there no updates more than half year, then forget it, it wont get android upgrade

                        i've realised that all i care about for my next tv is the ability to block ads. has that been improved or am i still forced to suffer through 2 30second ads in a 2 minute video?

                            OS OEMs should first at least provide an emulator for full scale processing or if they can't it shows the ARPNET runs on CISC. That's bad because a mechanical 128bit recorded in Anti matter processor ll unleash Fire Cell like situation on will.

                              Me with Nokia streaming box 8000 with Android tv 10.

                              I asked last year before purchase will it get Android 11 or 12 and was told by the company that it will get 1 major update but they could not say when.

                              I hope they did not lie to me, if there will be no major update i am never going to buy from Nokia!

                              I hope there will be next gen Nvidia shield tv soon, Nvidia has been great with Android tv updates before.
