Asus Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition review

17 December 2022
We used one of the coolest, high-end laptops from Asus this year for a few months to see how it holds up in the long-term.

Amomus, 18 Dec 2022The performance of the Ryzen iGPU never match an dGpu 3060,... moreintel has fallen asleep or rather hibernated. Intel has been with its integrated Xe graphics for 4 years without evolving, while AMD has gone from Zen 2 with Vega 8 --> Zen 3+ with RDNA2 and now with Zen 4 --> RDN3 + AI Just read The graphics of the Core 13 disappoints, it does not surpass the AMD Vega 8

AMD Phoenix CPUs will surpass the Apple M2 in performance and efficiency

Anonymous, 21 Dec 2022Such a long article for a device with an old school chip in... moreThat "old school chip" is still a beast and better than most desktop CPUs dude. And it's not exactly a freshly released laptop so it makes sense there's nothing newer inside. Unlike Intel laptops, AMD ones are good even on a last gen chip

Such a long article for a device with an old school chip inside. I can guess that it gets just a few hours of use on battery and with reduced performance of course as it is the case for all windows systems plus the extra bonus of the fan noise.

Powerhouse, 18 Dec 2022Very bad Too much glossy display. That glossy display is a positive, it's an OLED, you don't need it matte. Just adjust the screen angle.

I really love this entire design, its fantastic and truly is thinking out side the box. I hope they expand next year and offer another, but with larger screen size. I dont think this should be just a one year limited edition release.

Hello ASUS, please keep this going! I need one with a 17"

Also, the professional crowd who need Need a laptop workstation will obviously be going with the lenovo/dell/hp kits with actual dGPUs and other under the hood hardware add-ons.

Gamers would also need a dGPU and this does not have it. So I think the only people for whom this laptop was designed for were not casuals, gamers or pro users...but people who had 1k to 2k lying around and want to spend it on some short term gimmick (i.e. rich-ish people with too much money).

Gimmicky for what it offers and costs. The lack of dGPU alone makes it a non-starter for the professional crowd. If anyone is going to haul around an eGPU enclosure to use with these TB ports then they are instead better served with sticking a Sliger ITX/Nr200 case with 7700x/13700k and a XPPen/Wacom wireless tablet on their person if they have access to a power outlet. That config would easily be 3x to 7x better than this thing based on workload types and would fall somewhere in the same price point.
The on site CAD works, MoCap, 3D scan, VR/AR demo, mobile computing type jobs will need better hardware than what this thing provides. To just use something like this for generic office work, homework or browse facebarf...aren't there already 1000s of other laptops that would fit the bill? For anything more compute intensive, won't a desktop be more useful? This is just some shinny pickup gimmick through and through and those are some weird cost cutting measures for the Indian market to boot.

Weird that there is 4GB sticks of RAM and then they have 8 of them in it for 32GB. This amount of space that it takes and also each make heat too. Is it not better to have like 16GB sticks of RAM or at very least 8GB sticks. 4GB sticks are just dumb when we speak on these large numbers.

Since there are so many test under benchamark, pro apps and games this igpu is settle that it can match gtx 1650 mobile

                            pink not my favorite color

I prefer the AMD zen 4 7000 series platform that will last over time for about 4-5 years, unlike Intel that only applies 2 years, you really freak out. Right now, how are the prices, you will get much more out of it in the future by buying AMD and we all know that both in work tasks and in games and even more when RDNA 3 is present in the processors vs. Xe from intel with graphics from 4 years ago.
Currently many people are waiting to buy a Laptop and AMD ZEN Phoenix and will take the latest case that the 12th 13th generation of Intel does not fail due to the high energy consumption and high temperatures as it is 10 nm
                              AMD ZEN 4 Phoenix = LPDDR5, DDR5 + PCIe 5 + RDNA 3 + USB 4.0 + HDMI 2.1 + Xilinx AI acceleration Never seen in a 5nm all laptop vs. intel q follows 10nm there are no more comments
The performance of the Ryzen 7000 Phoenix iGPU APU supposedly matches the levels of the GeForce RTX 3060 discrete GPU for laptops, conclusion if you are not a gamer that if you need a dedicated graphics card with a Zen 4 laptop you have a laptop for the next 10 years and more.

                                  Too much glossy display.

the specification gives a small weight, in fact the laptop weighs over 2 kg and is noticeably heavy. The oled screen is gorgeous.
