AnonD-731363, 14 Dec 2022Man yes last brand giving useless features from the past no... moreYeah... Nowdays people "can" have 1TB of memory on their phones, but how many people are buying those? Not many. Why? Because it's bloody expensive. Look how much difference between 128, 256, 512 and 1024GB is in the price. How can you say that's better then having a dedicated SD memory card which cost waaaay less. There are some cases when you need to swap your memory into another device. It can be anything not just a phone. You simply can't do that. And yeah, some people need a lot of memory for their devices and you can't ignore it just because you're personaly satisfated with just 128GB on your phone.

3.5mm jack still has more advantages then his modern BT brother. For example you don't have to worry about your battery for your buds and their adapters, yoi can use it like a external microphone, you can use it as antenna for FM radio... Yeah I know who still uses FM radio, but if you don't have a internet connection or low signal you are doomed. The only downside of classic 3.5mm headphones is that they are connected with wire, but than again, you can never loose one bud.

People just want a choice, but companies brainwashed us to think Cloud storage (with subscribtion fees which they can and they are rising prices when ever they like) and BT is absoutelly better then the older tech which is not the case. The moment iPhone 7 ditched their 3.5mm jacks with others from Android world just following suit, the BT market exploded. If you made your own choice to storage your files on a Cloud or buying a mega expensive phones with 1TB of memory go ahead and enjoy, but you can't say 3.5mm or SD memory still doesn't have their strong points.

Now, if you would be so kind and reply did you agree with me on at least some points I made?

I don't want to sound like hey.. my version of the truth is right and yours is wrong, just want an honest opinion on advantages and disvantages of both and how practical they can be.

AnonD-731363, 14 Dec 2022Man yes last brand giving useless features from the past no... moreYou keep saying this but audiophiles will disagree with you. As niche of an audience they may be, they're still an audience with nobody but Sony catering to them since LG went down.

Also, for people who don't want to pay monthly payments for cloud storage or over $800 in NAS equipment, pray tell what compact users can do to get more than 256GB on Zenfone, Galaxy S22, or Pixel 6a/7 and they don't want iPhone? If those phones got a 512GB version, your argument would hold weight.

Kangal, 14 Dec 2022Sony used to be the best software supporter, back in the da... moreThey could sell cheap phones with great specs, like Xiaomi, especially in countries like India, Vietnam, Philippines, Bangladesh, which are close to them. But no, they had a habit of big profit. Now they sell 1 milion devices a year. Sad.

with how expensive they sell they should update the complete line!! I don't think they will see Android 14 for next year anymore, in addition, Android 13 has already been official for more than 6 months and now they are updating these devices! But better late than never I guess

Where most OEMs were ditching software support after 1-2 years, Sony was closer to 2-3 years for their flagships. And to top it all off, they were making big platform updates that were very stable. Not sure people remember what the scene was like with Android 5.0 but most released phones and updates were super annoying. Things got ironed out with Android 5.1, but if you go to the AOSP tree, it was Sony that developed it. Yes, there's lots of code in AOSP from HTC, Motorola, Sony, LG, Samsung, and others.

I believe the problems with Sony Corporation, is what's caused their mobile division to shrink several years ago. So they just don't have the staff and expertise for everything, not the way they used to. And certainly not able to compete against Google or Samsung on this front. But I still like their devices, their software, and their philosophy. I just don't like the prices, the lack of availability, and their (empty) customer service.

Great phones . too expensive to afford but I'd rather buy sony 10 IV than nothing phone or pixel 6a . hope they make at least 1 phone under 300 usd

Shadocx, 14 Dec 2022Sorry but this is more impressive: https://www.gsmarena.co... moreExactly. Samsung is the leader in updates at this point simply because they're the only one with enough margins to do better software support. The rest are operating at much thinner margin, and longer device support is probably an afterthought.

SD cards breaks faster than phones.

And a Vireless audio which beaten wired ones long time ago. Cables can get in way, can easily breaks and wired audio is just not that great either in era where companies developing improving and researching more wireless audio than a vired one.
