However taxes in my country are 20%, 20% from 1329 euro (base 128gb 14 Pro) is 265.80 euro
1329 - 265.80 = 1063.20 euro
999 US dollar is as of now 941.50 euro.
And this with a weak euro, at some point excluding taxes the EU (tax free) price of the iphones was between 120+ euro higher for the base model in EU vs US and for the Pro models nearly 200 euro higher in EU than in the US.
Also taxes in EU are higher, so if the price is already higher WITHOUT the taxes, then taxes make it even more expensive.

Americans buy iphones for way lesser. Here, it costs about $1600 for Pro while maybe $1200 at most in the USA, tax included. Also, this gap is found in many other regions as well

Best iPhones to me were released between 2007-2016 with the standouts being the 2G, 4/4S, 5/5S/SE1 , and matte black 7.
I thought iPhones felt more special during that first decade and it felt special owning one those first 3 years when it was still an AT&T exclusive. From 2012 to 2014 is when iPhones really hit mainstream as the 5 was for all major carriers and the 6 sold the most iPhones ever .
I did like iPhones finally getting wireless charging by 2017. But iPhones have gotten mostly boring 💤 and arguably uglier since then. Even the mini series did not excite me at all.
Call me old school but iPhones just felt cool and fresh those first few years. Then it got really stale after the 5S. I know the X is the most popular but it's the most overrated of the bunch. It's only praised being a 10-year-anniversary iPhone .

at this point, they should just call it a day with the SE and go back to their original strategy of continuing to sell their old flagships at lower and lower prices. imagine the iPhone 12 mini still being sold at $399 or $429, or even the 11 – it would still be far from the likes of the Pixel 6a or another competitor, but it would be a far better deal than the 8-year-old iPhone with 5G stuffed inside you can get at that price now.

At this point, they could just keep the current SE design and put a new chip in it. What is the point in another big 6.1 inch slab that‘s priced close enough to the 2 year old base model. The SE is at least unique in terms of home button and size.

But with current prices (14 Pro starting at €1419 in EU and €1500 in my country) a lot of people stick to their older ones.
Meanwhile in US Apple takes the hit and keeps the price at $999 after all these years…

To bad. The iPhone 14 series is just to expensive outside the US market. They need a modern budget phone. I myself went for a Nothing Phone (1) after some years with a iPhone.
Google will release a Pixel 7a in 2023. And Apple should have something similar.
