Daemon Targaryen, 21 Dec 2022SE (2016): 123.8 x 58.6 x 7.6 mm, 113 g
13 mini: 131.5 x 6... moreThat’s more due to the fact that Vita had a very inefficient screen power wise.

Daemon Targaryen, 21 Dec 2022Best comment I've read about the iPhone SE 2022 on Red... moreGreat, but for third world owners. Here in US, all get newest iPhones trading in the old ones on contract with monthly rates to cover the phone's cost. So practically, I see nobody with old iPhones. I do own an iPhone 8, like it because it is small to carry in my pocket but there are far and few between like me.

Apple should just do away with the regular iphone and introduce the SE edition as the regular(cheaper iphone) followed by pro model then Pro max

quite frankly apple need to re evaluate their entire product line up across all departments.
They are watering down the line ups too much, time to streamline and cull some products to make for a better range again

The iPhone XR was the 2nd worst phone they made (after the 5c) and people only bought it because it was cheap

Best comment I've read about the iPhone SE 2022 on Reddit.

The iPhone SE 2022 has to be the best phone Apple has put out in recent years. Before everyone shits on me, hear me out. The iPhone SE has a trick in the book that no other modern iPhone being sold on the apple website has. This is a trick that many reviewers have conveniently missed as well: Repairability!
All iPhones since the iPhone X have had Face ID and recent iPhones have even begun to integrate it into the display itself. The Face ID is paired to the logic board through an IC chip. So if you were to attempt to ever replace a real iPhone 13 display with an aftermarket display because you don’t want to pay the guys at Apple ridiculous prices, your Face ID would cease to work. And it will show a fake display notification. Which means now you have to put in the password on a $1000+ phone everytime you unlock. Even if you replace a real display with a real display, you need proprietary Apple software to pair that new display to your logic board.
The story continues with battery, the battery also has a chip that lets Apple software tell a real battery from an aftermarket battery. When you replace a real battery with an aftermarket replacement, the phone shows a notification that you’ve got a fake battery. This is going to drive the resale value of your iPhone to the ground.
With the iPhone SE 2022, this is a different story. Touch ID is attached to the display but can be removed and attached to a different display and so replacing the screen with an aftermarket screen does absolutely nothing except take away true tone. Which can be brought back by reprogramming the display. Battery, when replaced with an aftermarket battery doesn’t create a notification, it simply leaves your battery heath stuck at 100%.
Finally, iPhone 8 parts such as lightning ribbons, volume and mute switch ribbons and power button ribbons can all be used in the iPhone SE 2022 and since iPhone 8 parts have been around for a while they’ll be a whole lot cheaper to source. As long as you don't buy a midnight iPhone SE, your buttons won’t look wrong if replaced with iPhone 8 parts. Heck, you can even get a white bezeled display for your starlight iPhone SE.
By the way, did I mention that curved edges makes it easier to pry out the screen without shattering it if you are opening the phone to replace something other than the screen. The flat side phones like 12 have made the display harder to get out for amateur repairmen. iPhone 13 is even worse in this regard since it has an even thinner display, don't believe me? Check out JerryRigEverything’s video on this matter.
Finally, lets talk longevity. Smaller screen, battery and single camera aside this phone is essentially a home button version of iPhone 13 mini and a lot of people like that. Theoretically, it's slightly more powerful than 13 and 13 mini because it has less pixels to push on the display.
So if you can make peace with what many people call a downside to this phone or if the “downsides” to this phone are actually what attract you in the first place. The iPhone SE is the best phone you can buy right now longevity-wise.

I think iPhone 8 PLUS body are far more better than XR. some people still takes advantages of Touch ID (unless they're using iPhone 12 Mini design WITH Touch ID on the power button instead, like, you know... iPads?)

Alex 94, 21 Dec 2022Probably 60hz screen. And maybe even lcd. Price above 500$,... moreNope. It'll be the same price as the other iPhone SEs, adjusted for inflation.

SE (2016): 123.8 x 58.6 x 7.6 mm, 113 g
13 mini: 131.5 x 64.2 x 7.7 mm, 141 g
SE (2022): 138.4 x 67.3 x 7.3 mm, 144 g
The 13 mini is closer to the size and weight of the 3rd gen SE than 1st gen. I think the SE 3 is easier to handle. The rounded sides doesn't dig into your palm but it can get slippery, so get a case. And display is easier to handle since your thumbs don't need to do Twister gymnastics reaching the corners. It's a tall display vs. a normal 16:9 on the SE.
SE 3 has the same chip as the 13 mini and LCD lasts longer than OLED. I don't understand the hype from OLED. My Vita slim had way better battery life than my Vita phat. Burn-in and dying pixels are more frequent on OLEDs. Everything looks so saturated like you're taking a ride for It's A Small World in Disneyland.
The SE 2022 keeps getting blasted for being a "downgrade" when it really isn't and has a better SoC than the X through 12. It's the home button version of the 13 mini at $250 cheaper but it still gets blasted for the outdated design.
Over time when the XR design takes over the SE line by March 2024, the SE 2022 will start getting more appreciated since it might be the final iPhone to have a home button and sim tray. Touch ID isn't coming back for the foreseeable future.
Touch ID > Face ID
Home button > Swipe up to go home
And SE 1, 2, and 3 are way easier to repair at a much cheaper price.

My iPhone History
iPhone 2G: Nov 2008 - June 2010
iPhone 4: June 24, 2010 - Aug, 2013
iPhone 2G: Oct 5, 2011 - June 2012
iPhone SE 2016: May 20, 2017 - June 2019
iPhone SE 2016: Jan 19, 2021 - Present
iPhone 12 mini: Apr 19, 2021 - Aug 2021
iPhone SE 2022: Oct 30, 2022 - Present
iPhone 7: Dec 3, 2022 - Present
I owned an iPhone 7 previously in 2021 for about 2 months (Feb-Apr) but was locked to Tracfone. Traded it in for $530 from T-Mobile to get the 12 mini. Owned a 4S as well for a few months.
The much hated SE 2022 is easily my favorite. Battery life lasts long if no widgets. Easy to repair. Touch ID is superior to Face ID. I prefer my control center by swipe up from the bottom.
Every iPhone from X and up which only has Face ID are UGLY af, overpriced, gimmicky, easier to break, and more expensive to repair. Y'all been suckered for 5 years already.

Alex 94, 21 Dec 2022Probably 60hz screen. And maybe even lcd. Price above 500$,... moreOutdated cameras, and much more! Only good thing about SE, especially for its price, is the chip, but that's pointless because rest is so unbalanced

They are selling less then expected? It's almost like Apple buyers are seeing what a rip-off SE is, almost like they see all other phones in that price range having high refresh screens, better battery life, AMOLED screens and larger cameras, so they spend bit more money to buy a flagship iPhone if they really must have an iPhone, or buy an android phone.

Willywonka, 21 Dec 2022I think the original iPhone X design is better than XR. Agree, but X is more expensive to produce than XR. And we know how apple does not like to narrow down the profit margins. :)

Since they gutted the mini from their yearly iPhone line-up, it seems baffling to me that they'd release yet another 6.1 inch phone. People are still buying 13s, 12s and even 11s. I know girls with hands small enough that they need a ring holder attached to the back of the mini. Going with the iPhone X/XS form factor seems like the better option. 5.8 inches always seemed like a very useable and decent middle ground to me.
