Anonymous, 12 Jan 2023No mention of the ridiculous amount of bloatware (literally... moreYou must have gotten a carrier locked or Korean imported phone, because the only kinda sorta "bloatware" that is installed in One UI 5 after you factory reset are the 4 Microsoft apps - which you are probably already using at your desktop or work - and the mandatory Google apps like Meet and YouTube Music.
Otherwise, Samsung CULLED even more apps with the new iteration - I mean, they started to use the s... Google Messages instead of their own SMS app!

one thing i noticed is that in one ui 5 samsung adopted motorola like refresh rate management scheme . if i touch my screen refresh rate goes anything above 60 hz if not it default to fixed 60hz . i like it more . it seems like a more conscious choice .

Samsung UI is not bad, for sure better then MIUI (for me), I like Sony before they go to "clean" Android or CyanogenMod in the past. But to feel enough smooth of expirence with it and had quite good hardware eg camera you need something like a Samusng A52S or A53 5G at least. But if you have to spend around value like for S21FE I will choose S21FE, S22/+/Ultra. Sorry to say that but I dont see such a possibulity to spend from 500€ or more for Xiaomi device.
That it wouldn't be so nice. The Samsung A7X series currently doesnt present anything interesting, the series below the A5X is also very weak. And the prices of the top models for the start are very expensive.

And yet, in one year we had pandemic, 2 major earthquakes on different locations, major floods and fire hazards. Safety is a very fragile concept you do not want to play with

Wonder if any Samsung phone will ever be able to run smoothly, without lag. My work phone (A72) is horrible in UI performance, really laggy with Android 13 too.

No mention of the ridiculous amount of bloatware (literally 64 bloatware apps that cannot be disabled OR removed, not a part of the core OS components, totaling at 3.04GB in size on the storage)...very good article writing there guys.

It actually made playing MLB 9 innings '22 worse. The adaptive refresh rate is overly aggressive and often drops to 24fps when navigating the menus and makes it look very choppy where it never did this before the update.

one ui 5? definitly not.
its more of a one ui 4.1.1 or 4.5, there isnt enough new features to justify a full number increase

On a side note, One UI 5 feels snappier to use than One UI 4 and they made the swipe down animation to view notifications (only peeking at the first few) possible again since One UI 3.
(I have all animation scales besides animator in developer options set to 0.5)
One UI 3 still feels the cleanest to use. I can navigate pretty much as fast as I want quicker on my mid ranger with animations on than a flagship with Android 12 or 13 with animations on. Especially since elastic overscroll isn't slowing me down.
On One UI 5, try going to app switcher and swiping up to close an app and immediately swiping back down to go back into your prior app. In One UI 5, the animation gets in the way so you can't swipe down as quickly anymore (you have to wait) and in One UI 4 and 4.1, swiping down back into an app was stuttery to me. On One UI 3.1 however, it's butter smooth and works perfectly.

One UI 5.0 is just about refinements.
I am happy that the article did not repeat the same mistake that other sites do by saying Lockscreen customization would be new.
However, the author obviously didn't know One UI before 5.0:
- Stacked Widgets are not new. They were introduced back with One UI 4.1 in S22 series as Smart Widgets. They have now a new name and are easier to configure. Let me put it this way: the configuration UI was changed. The feature is basically the same.
- Routines and modes both are very old and not new. They have been there for years. Samsung just reorganised the menu structure. Also here, just the way it is configured was changed, not the functionality.
- Splitscreen via Recent button is also very old. It goes back to Touch Wizz times, but the configuration was hidden in Good lock after introducing One UI. Now it is again there where it belongs to, but it is not new. BTW: you can switch to splitscreen in 8 different ways in One UI now.
- Smart text and text recognition are also very old, they were just refined. In fact, text recognition has been around since the early days of Note series.
