blue, 26 Dec 2022And why exactly should they do it?The EU is forcing them.

Rotciv Ikias, 26 Dec 2022That's not true I‘d like to believe so but from the sources I‘ve seen, it has worse efficiency. It seems like the chip is pushed harder with more power than the M1. If you have any sources to refute that, I’d be happy to see them.

The rest are stuck to Qualcomms tyranny which is both unwilling and unable to compete with Apple. They remind me of Intel (Qualcomm does). A company both unwilling and unable to move with the times for 20 long years (completely missed the mobile revolution, kept increasing their chips' speed by 5% for the longest time, until they were forced to actually start increasing it faster)...

                    "3nm"...

From 22nm and down no identifiable component of those chips have been anywhere close to the node written. They are just telling us that they found new and better methods to up the chip density (none of which include shrinking any particular component to 3nm or anything close to that).

Maybe, one day, we would be able to legit make 3nm chips, I mostly doubt it though because it would hardly matter (the name of the game is and should be "chip density", not how small the smallest component is)...

Universe is scaling up more transistor doesn't translate to faster but clock speed does which it is why one needs metallurgy expertise, to get the fastest clk(clock, it's used for encryption and decipher, bit count i.e32, 64, 96). TSMC doesn't have that, the chip they are trying to make i believe A15 , can't be reverse engineered, PCB and below usually can't be done

Invictus77, 26 Dec 2022Macbook pro on 3nm is going to be a spaceship among laptops 🛸That hardly anyone buys, people buy Lenovo, Dell, Asus, and maybe, just maybe HP a 700 dollar laptop, not a 2,000 to do what you do in the 700/1000 dollar

Kums100, 26 Dec 2022Lol? You clearly have no clue, Processors may be a tad bett... moreEven processor, When M1 come out it was better than 11th gen and Zen 3 but when 12th gen come out and zen 4 Apple is only better in Efficient, perfomance wise it cant compete with top cpu from Intel/Amd.

And even Gpu Qualcomm surpassed them with Adreno 740 efficiency wise, you get GtX 1050 level of perfomance with just 7W power usage.

Rotciv Ikias, 26 Dec 2022That's not true there you go

and plenty of test shows M2 hitting 100 Centigrade heat if you want i can link videos too.
