btw I believe Sony will do better without Ericsson. Sony, Samsung and lg all these three has good potential in my opinion.

It's the Ericsson who has the "telecommunication knowledge", not Sony. And btw if Samsung or Lg didn't have that knowledge I don't think they would be in 2nd and 4th place ahead of SE. No Samsung didn't get into symbian development. So far they have simply purchased license from nokia and we didn't get to see any nice interface or themes or other goodies. Now that its going 'open-source', I'm waitng to see how Nokia handles them in coming days.

Samsung and LG have no proper telecommunication knowledge but survive by licencing other people's work. Now that symbian is going open source, we will see how far these two can go developing a platform they know very little about on their own.

looks like SE is going down following the patch of Siemens (Benq-Siemens). In the future there's no more SE, just Sony.

Sony's CEO, Howard Stringe, is said to be thinking of breaking away from Ericsson, who collectively form mobile phone giant Sony Ericsson. Stringer admitted in an interview with a German newspaper that this hadn't been one of their better years - what with poor sales, profit warnings, and the like. He then went on to say said "buying out a partner is never an easy thing", possibly hinting of Sony buying out Ericsson. He said he wants to work alongside Ericsson, and recapture the success they had two years ago - namely with the Walkman and Cybershot line of handsets. Continuing from that sentence, and, most interestingly of all, he said "Or the joint venture will have to find its own solution". So, in a nutshell, it seems if Sony Ericsson cannot recapture the few glory years they had, from 2005-2006, it could very well be that Sony will be giving Ericsson the boot, and going in the mobile phone business alone - and possibly releasing a PSP phone on their own after all.

those awards mean nuthin' as long as the market share involved.
you can pay all those institutions to give you their award, but if the consumers didn't like your product, then the awards will give you no good at all.
so, if you fanboys really love SE so much, better grab one before they become extinct.

Go to GSM a... moreI do not know a Sony Ericsson better than Samsung omnia or than Nokia n95 and in other terms a SE nicest than LG viewty or LG secret, about sound quality what will you think with KC910 with Dolby and video quality which SE reach 120fps, like Viewty, Omnia and why SE it is the fifth largest, cause people buy quality and SE it is a bit lack of it, it is improving but in the last quarter SE drops and lost a big amount of money.

As it is mentioned in the news this is for the best music phone award not an all in one phone award so it was right to crown Sony Ericsson W980 as the best "Music phone". People just keep arguing about stuff like "no it doesn't have a 3.5mm jack"or"it doesn't have a DSP why is it a music phone". That is just ridiculous, people will always find faults in a phone, no phone is perfect so get over it people! As for Samsung and HTC thank goodness no one noticed them getting an award . People really never notice Samsung even though it is the second biggest phone manufacturer I don't know why they always seem to talk about Sony Ericsson and Nokia that is pretty lame in my opinion. For people saying why N82 didn't get an award they are just is stupid because it already had one.

nokia fans just say "GRaPES ARE SOUR". U people can't bear the excellent sound quality of SE Walkman phones. when u got an excellent HPM-77 then why go for the rubish 3.5......
even the nokia themselves don't beleive their headphones to be a satisfactory one, this is why they offer you a 3.5. but SE know that they had done GREAT work theirfore they believe that without a 3.5mm jack their customers will get the best sound quality in the mobile market.

SE most of designs are ranked more than 8.3. Ugly Nokia phones are below 8.0. Please check W902, C905 and X1 designs, Then you can understand SE how creative.

Sony ericsson it is horrible, always the same thing, i cannot compare sony ericsson with Nokia, neither with samsung. I prefer Nokia and LG in design cause SE mobiles are really ugly.

But the problem is you can't us headset & charge or connect to the PC at the same time.
