Its Apple bro!
People might have different opinions about Apple but one fact is absolute that Apple is the King of Marketing & Psychological tricks.
Apple is deliberately crippled base iPhones in order to make their Pro's more attractive.
If someone is ready to buy a $800 then he wouldn't hesitate to spend $200-300 extra for an overall much better phone.
The base iPhone exists for only 2 reasons-
1. Make Pro iPhones look better deal compared to base variant.
2. Introduce Android users to iPhones at slightly affordable range.SE exist solely for this purpose.
That strategy is reflected in sales of different iPhone variants.
While Pro iPhones are selling really well, meanwhile base iPhones are having poor sales.

You forgot to mention that apple wil be likely ditching the charging port in favor of type c and focus on wirless charging.

George399, 03 Jan 2023Wooah!!! 48mpx for a 900$ phone in 2023. So innovative!!!!!The MP isn't that important, 48MP is more then enough (basically all android flagships use 50mp sensors, only Samsung is using 108mp), what matters is sensor size.
If they use same sensor as in Pro and Pro Max models, it will be a huge upgrade and a very good one at that.

If Apple gives USB-2.0 to vanilla models, all of a sudden android fanboys will stop screaming at Xiaomi for doing it and scream at Apple.
What they really need to change is screen refresh rate, at day and age where even 300 dollar phones come with 120hz AMOLED screens, Apple could at least offer 90hz.
