this thing absolutely power hungry i hope intel using new battery tech i mean if its paired with 3050/3060 etc so power hungry

performance is getting faster but the TDP is also getting bigger. power hungry

Hemedans, 03 Jan 2023these Alder/Raptor lake core are too powerfull, Pentium 850... moreIs very hard to believe that Intel will be that dumb to release a pentium better then iCore no matter what generation (of course, talking new generations and not 10 years old ones).
Pentium was a long time ago a highend CPU name, now is just middle-low end one and will stay that way for another while. Celeron is at the buttom of the barrel, i do not understand why celeron even exists...one better buy's an old iCore and will do way better then any celeron i'm familiar with. So name might make sense, but if U300 will be that fast as you claim, then well, is no celeron nor pentium, but more like in a cathegory of it's own.

[deleted post]AMD isn't reliable especially with Windows 11. Intel is long lasting like Snapdragon for phones.

Anonymous, 03 Jan 2023Are they too afraid to call the U300 Pentium or Celeron? I ... morethese Alder/Raptor lake core are too powerfull, Pentium 8505 is more powerfull than i7 10th gen like 10510U, i wont be suprised if that U300 perform better than some i series in 11th gen.

Pentium and celeron are known to be lowend weak cpu, even if they are powerfull people will ignore them and they will pick weaker i7 over stronger pentium.

So renaming them make sense, not to associate them with celeron and pentium.

This is top of the line enthusiast HX for most expensive laptops, litteraly for best performance money can buy for laptop and destroys some high end desktop cpu's. H series is for normal gaming laptops with 45w-75w as per norm.

RIP AMD, Intel this generation took back the mobile crown and desktop crown

Make the laptops thick again so they can be properly cooled, you cowards.

Stability and better performance. I'll buy.

inteLuser, 03 Jan 2023did you see the charts and the hidden lithography of the CP... moreThat's exactly a vulnerability of AMD's marketing right now. They need to rely in an external technology (TSMC) to provide similar performance (albeit slightly more efficiently) with a more advance (and expensive) node in comparison to Intel.

With the Apple's M-series, AMD lost the efficiency crown in high-performance ultrabooks. With Intel joining the Multicore and now HMP party, AMD lost the crown in multi-core performance. They have been forced to increased TDP to combat impresive single-core performance from Intel, althought with the enormous thermal and power cost. And they are increasingly relying on the technology advantage offered by TSMC, without it (e.g. GloFo times, or even in the case of using Samsung as second source), AMD would not be in the good position it is today.

Don't get me wrong, I love team red. But they need to catch up fast. Apparently TSMC is giving more and more priority to Apple, Intel is speeding up it's Amstrong-nodes, and the 10nm is comparable to TSMCs 7nm, and AMD is just about to get ot 5nm (just one generation node ahead).

Rumors say AMD will begin to use Samsung as second source for lower end processors albeit in their leading-edge node, that might be useful to seek for alternatives to depending too much on TSMC, and increasing production. Techwise, I wonder how long will take for AMD to deliver a more efficient "Little Core Design" that could allow to regain leadership in efficiency, if not in leading edge performance.

This is just insane... Storage at this point does not keep up and will be again a bottleneck that won't allow the CPU to show it's pride, also the mainboard chip? How will that keep up? I mean a CPU is not everything, the rest needs to also work at high speeds. Without all the other hardware keeping up, performance will be at a margin of relevance in front of 12 generation of iCores.
But come on, a gaming pc is not a server...

Not even close. Not gonna talk about other engineering tools where cisc matters.
