@Phonefreak45, 720p out of this camera, will look very good on smartphones

Skipping PDAF is good for the raw image for it never skips details for AF area while keeping binning high for the relatively low price

I have the GX1 and it's still the loveliest cam when it comes to post processing it.

D-AF is good but not stellar; thank the so-called reviewers for bloating every camera to turn them into hybrids than be contained into what they specifically can do.

At least cams are not bloated as smart-phone cams of now yet.

Anonymous, 04 Jan 2023720p video out of this is miles better than 8K from phones. This is hilarious. Let's be more specific than that. In low light, HDR scenarios, colour depth sensitive shooting scenarios (for example, low light), and in high zoom level scenarios, 720p 60FPS video out of this camera will look better than 4K 60FPS video out of a phone in equivalent shooting scenarios. Other than that, yeah resolution doesn't matter past a certain point, but 720p video won't even look good on a phone screen, let alone a laptop or TV. HDR, colour depth, low light, and zoom are the only advantages this camera will give you over a phone when artificially limited to 720p resolution.

No point of a professional camera if it can't do still photography, if picture is to be tweaked, tweak extent should be as far as, imagination.

One can do that with processoing might, no need for optics, i.e. Dawn AI then content aware in Photoshop. CES23 ll be the biggest ever tho, what a great time to live.

The specifications look good. Might give it a run test once available in my place.

Anonymous, 04 Jan 2023720p video out of this is miles better than 8K from phones. Cause this is a proper mirrorless camera... This shouldn't be a comparison. Of course, these cameras will take better photos/videos than any smartphone.

Always cite your source when you make a statement. In case you're wondering, A Wikipedia article is even less of a reliable source than so-called "leakers" if it doesn't show any reference to a particular piece of information.

Panasonic never publicised the names of their sensors, and probably neither will they ever do in future. It's significantly easier for one to find out the specific version of a sensor used on a smartphone because most of the time it can be easily retrieved through API, on a dedicated camera this is simply not the case.

Cmos of 7 iv is even worse than imx410. Anyway, it is best seller mirrorless in Japan ( counting whole 2022)

True, unless Samsung or magically debuts it's hypothetical Quantum image sensor which has been in development since 2009, until the 2005 pocket camera will beat the A out of Poogle pixel or iPhoney

Anonymous, 04 Jan 2023720p video out of this is miles better than 8K from phones. There is no comparison, a smartphone will never be able to have such a huge sensor, and well, it compensate by implementing the AI crap, the worse innovation since the beginning of cameras....

It staggers me that Panasonic, until this very moment, never had any camera with a PDAF-capable sensor. Their (flawed) DFD AF, being a derivative of CDAF, never worked well for tracking fast-moving objects and has always been Pana's biggest weakness over the likes of Sony, Canon and Nikon.

Thank god that S5II is priced very competitively though, it's good 400 USD cheaper than A7IV at launch and has a higher RAW burst-shooting rate, a crisper rear screen and the ability to shoot open-gate 6K video that uses the full sensor area for more flexible frame adjustment in post-editing.
