If you've ever imagined a ThinkPhone, it probably looked just like this.

This phone is DOA.

No removable battery sucks compare to the competition it faces (mostly Samsung). No 3.5mm jack further kills it.

I can see not having a microsd card slot as a "security" feature to prevent info leaks, but then again, I highly doubt the software support would go as far as having options to lock down devices or anything close to that.

Business phones need good software support. If Motorola/Lenovo can't deliver, then these will just be regular phones with a fancy skin and a price markup.

Anonymous, 05 Jan 2023Agree with you, no SD card no party I'd be fine without a microSd slot as long as there's a 1+ TB storage option and the phone has a fast USB port. If you want to look professional, you don't want to be making excuses that you can't access your data because the WiFi/cellular is too slow where you are at the moment. Lots of offices have only 100mbps Internet. I've seen even bonded ISDN (1.5 mbps per line).

The headphone jack is a problem for personal use. Still waiting for Bluetooth that doesn't suck or a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter with power passthrough that isn't chunky.

notafanboy, 05 Jan 2023"maybe even a removable battery" keep dreaming broTo sell phones In the EU manufacturers will eventually have to start offering smartphones with removable if proposed legislation is appoved.

The EU Parliament has reached a provisional agreement to overhaul it's rules on batteries; it will require smartphones batteries that can be easily removed and replaced.

Manufacturers will have three and a half years to comply once the rules are implemented.

I'd like to suggest getting the Thinkphone when it's out, but the lack of 3.5mm is going to send them to Samsung for the XCoverPro 6. Which isn't a bad phone at all, it's just not the Thinkphone.

ruined by not having headphone jack. Would have been a great alternative to Zenfone 9

Aside from the choice of build materials/quality. There isn't really a standout feature to see here. I was expecting more from the so called "ThinkPhone". The ThinkPad laptops are pretty decent for commercial use, so Motorola/Lenovo really could've done something more here. Still, it seems like a pretty decent phone overall.

Anonymous, 05 Jan 2023Agree with you, no SD card no party Yeah, I don't particularly think that no sd card in a normal consumer-grade phone is a dealbreaker, but a card slot should be mandatory in something marketed for business. The card slot is indispensable for keeping backup copies of files, or could also be used to upload files from other devices such as DSLR's. I like the hardware spec of this phone overall, but I don't get the "business" branding.
