Anonymous, 10 Jan 2023My really old laptop came with Windows 7. Worked well. But ... moreI bought a BRAND NEW 12th gen intel gaming laptop with an i7-12700H and 16GB of DDR5 ram. Windows 11 ran like HOT GARBAGE and felt clunky even when I TRIED to enjoy it. Even when installing latest updates (July 2022) it was slow and looked ugly as well as lacking so many freedom and features that Windows 10 had. I downloaded the media creation tool and installed Windows 10 onto the machine (within Windows 11 itself). It ran soooo much snappier and it kept the drivers, license key, and OEM stuff as well! The drivers that "only work for Windows 11" appear to work just fine on Windows 10.

notafanboy, 10 Jan 2023Windows 11 betterWindows 11 has no taskbar toolbars, the icons are all redesigned and look terrible and aren't legacy (Windows 8 icons are peak in modern UI language imo)
Windows 11 has settings app instead of the glorious Windows 7 control panel
Windows 11 puts the start button in the center of the screen by default which is funny because Chrome OS now has the start menu on the right instead of the center because of how stupid it is to put it in the middle
Windows 11 requires a 98" TV to be able to make use of the wasted screen space properly.
Windows 11 wants you to give up your freedom with BIOS and move to UEFI and force feed UEFI updates to your laptop while it cooks in your bag because of "modern standby"
Most modern laptops now ship with no S3 standby support which means that your battery will "leave the chat" if you don't put your computer in hibernation mode. All so Microsoft can collect that sweet telemetry off your computer even while it's closed and begging for mercy while your gaming laptop is reeving their fans at max speed, cooking in your backpack since Windows 11 took advantage of modern standby and thought it would be genius to install an update because it's actually quite smart. Malware and hackers would have trouble getting to your files when your laptop's batteries are dead or the motherboard is fried due to heat!

Microsoft is very good in gradually increasing hardware specs with updates, while not telling anyone about this. I am sure ealier versions of windows 10 is far more responsive than today's 22H2.

As wonderful and superb Windows XP and 7 are support from the company, be it standard or extended, will eventually come to an end. As long as Norton, MalwareBytes, Eset and other such internet security companies will continue to support Win 7 it's very essential to use them. My XP is now offline; Win 7 will eventually go offline when such companies will stop supporting it as well.

newflesh, 11 Jan 2023"Windows 7 machines should be able to run Windows 10 j... moreJoking right? Even my really old laptop that was released in 2010 runs fine. Windows 10 worked miles better than Windows 7 and 8.1. No any blue screen of death. No any graphics driver crashes. No any issues. Now it runs Windows 11 as well. And runs super great. What I've done is only upgraded ram from 4GB to 8GB. And replaced my HDD with a new HDD as the previous one was dying. Nothing else. When you reinstall Windows no matter which version configure all settings as you like and disable stupid settings that kill the performance.
