But for android not everybody can root and install custom rom. So longer support is important unless you break your phone too soon.

Everyone complaining about updates, in business realm no one uses same laptop/phone over 3 years. So its not quite required to update for like 5 years. Like so many have said in these comments, its so different world between business vs consumer.

Way too expensive for what is basically a rebadged X40 with nothing ThinkPad about it other than a Red button. It’s kinda disappointing this phone wasn’t a custom designed brand new device.

Even ASUS tried to do the same with the Padfone Docking Station a year later in 2012. With how crazily powerful modern SoC are nowadays, even in the entry-level segment, we should see lap dock going mainstream and not forever remain a niché product made by independent boutique brands only for advanced power users or enthusiasts. A lap dock is a great gadget companion for average consumers who only do daily work on smartphones.

With the existence of Ready For Desktop Mode, I rather see Motorola develop a proprietary lapdock specifically for the ThinkPhone. Contrary to what most people think, there are people out there who only use Android smartphone as their primary device. Also, with the existence of Andronix, you can basically install and use Linux desktop distro.
