ThinkPhone to also be available to end users in some countries

13 January 2023
Last week's announcement specified that the device would be a B2B exclusive.

While it's for business, to the casual user who saw this in a bit, this ThinkPhone would definitely make them think more than twice.

If they pay 2500$ or more. Sure. Nah, this will end like red phone.

As for the new Think Phone, it's an appealing device, but will wait till the reviews are out, cause the rumoured price seems too high for me to experiment with it

Yes it used to be good but in todays age it's just milking it's legacy. It's so overpriced and it's lost it's MSP which was how heavily modifiable it was! Why even buy thinkpad these days?

No need to project regular consumer expectations here

Business purchases are totally different they can sell through contract bundles

Or even negotiation or use leverage for other non related products/service

Hey I want these thinkphones for free but I'll give my Z software for it or give me a better deal on X for that

                      It's a much different realm

Anonymous, 13 Jan 2023Anyone care to explain why a company would choose this over... moreThey seem to be relying hard on brand value but the price will turn away most buyers, because it's a first generation product (as a thinkphone) and no one will spend that much to experiment with it. What's even worse is that it's not even that much different than a regular smartphone in terms of durability. It's not that rugged. So the question is, who will buy it. It's not an outright business phone, not a rugged phone, just a little bit durable over other phones and has a ThinkPhone logo on it. A hard sell at €999 perhaps

Anyone care to explain why a company would choose this over an iPhone with a case? What is the unique selling point? I don't see anything beyond branding.
