Like Image sensors are made in Japan, Korea etc; displays are made in China, Korea, Japan etc. Similarly sensors and other sensors and lenses, and many other components are made in different countries. So, technically India manufactures the smartphones.

As for impact of depreciation of rupee, it impacts every brand, even cheap ones like Redmi, Realme and Poco. Afterall, smartphones are assembled in India, not manufactured. The components are still imported from the East.

What they have that chinese oem's do not is the long software support and after sales service. They provide the longest software support for android, comparable to Apple, which provides minimum of 5 years.

What is surprising is the 4th quarter in india encompasses the festival season and people buy a lot in this quarter compared to other quarters and yet sales fell a lot in the fourth quarter compared to other quarters.
