Vegetaholic, 02 Feb 2023 What a disaster, basically same pictures, same sensor size... moreI'm gutted! I really hoped for a 1" sensor this year to beat the Sony IMX989 Exmor (or just use the IMX989 itself).
I think there was an arguement at Samsung that it would make make the device slighly thicker (probably by a fraction of mm, sigh).
Even if the device depth + camera hump/ ring= 1cm thick so what if it beats the competition (especially if you make it ergonomic), others can do it, why can't Samsung?
I've been saying this for years (on this site).
After camera tuning updates they'll probably trading more blows with the competion, but when Samsung releases their devices they should be clearly in front, not barely equalizing.
So close & good enough for some, but I don't want to comprise on image quality!

Canard, 04 Feb 2023U're in denial i think here... when u get e s23 ultra ... moreNope. Just simply don't like what I see here. Downloaded them, and compared both s22 and s23 shots, and again, processing in S23 for me is much over the top with just too much oversharpening. I will make it easier for you:
https://i.postimg.cc/MpVz2pYv/compare.jpg
On the S23 you cannot see here more details, but a boost of the micro contract, which is due to oversharpening. As you can see, on the edges, where there is a change in color, darker areas are even darker and bright even brighter. That is again, due to extended sharpening and leads to boosted details of low frequency, but unfortunately loss of those in low frequency especially in the areas near the drastic change of color/contrast. And look at the branches of trees, Awful. And while it looks good, when you don't zoom in on the picture at all, even on 50% for me it is simply annoying. So, again, processing is waaaay over the top in s23 Ultra..

Its so much of difference.

Anonymous, 03 Feb 2023You know they used to do that until One UI 2 if I recall. O... moreNo surprise why Samsung now follows everything that Apple do, and Samsung used to mock Apple before. 😂
That is why I have left the Samsung ship and now use Sony smartphones. I'm happy with my Xperia 1 iv.

Canard, 03 Feb 2023Artifacts and halos that dosnt exist here: all is fineSeriously? Halos and artifacts from oversharping on those photos are huge. Maybe I am but obsessed with that as I was earning on taking photos for most of my life, and got used to different look, but seriously, those are very ugly samples. From attached ones, i much prefer those from s22 ultra, even though they are very soft and look plastic.

Though now its like having full size camera with 24mm lens and phone for super wide and tele. Mixed feelings.

For me is enough to have them in phone or external HDD to sometimes brownse but i ever used TV for seeing my photos.
And about printing.
From last holidays in greece ordered a calendar from a company where i put 13 photos which i wanted in that calendar.
Same thing i did with hollidays from year before.
And two most valuable photos i used same company to make an acrylic photo frame of a size of a large postcard and they are hanged on a wall in my flat.
Sorry if my english is not very undersnadeable.
Tried my best.

The 200MP photos look great. Great detail and a very natural look.
This might actually be better than the Nokia 808 even in daylight!
