Tann Hauser, 02 Feb 2023Well, a bitter taste is coming all right... Bring in that ... more400 Mpix is garbage this should be long time in works and ready for phones.

Imagine Mi 13 Ultra with 1inch sensor and a 600 Mpix camera.
Compared to S23 Ultra it would be like making photos with EOS R5 by Cannon vs West Pocket Kodak most popular camera durring WW1.

So many fuss about the camera and on a 6 inch screen photos will looks simmilar.

jiyen235, 03 Feb 2023The S22 Ultra itself shot some pretty overprocessed picture... moreI looked at some other samples yesterday and S23 Ultra looked so much better in poor light. These samples are the opposite. I can't find the other ones again, but I'm sure I checked them here on GSMArena. Hm. I wonder why is it so hard to give users control over processing amount. Even if it's just in I don't know, 3 steps like Default, Low, High and Off. It's usually sharpening that ruins them anyways.

For me it seems the s22 has better camera... The images of the s23 is quite noisy compared to the s22.
Of course this may improve with time.

Hey GSMArena, will you please provide the same comparison over S22 and S23 cameras? I know they are the same on the paper, but certainly the new processing and Snapdragon chipset could play a significant role here and I'm very curious about the results.

The S22 Ultra itself shot some pretty overprocessed pictures but the S23 Ultra takes it to the next level, wow samsung, tone it down a little ffs

                Thank you GSMArena!

                Very interesting!

I prefer 12mpx output by the S22. The S23 picture is too much contrasty, too much details enhancing, looks rough.

200 and 50 from the S23 btw look very promising, I hope with Samsung's tuning tools we'll be able to strike a perfect balance. Seems like Samsung is using this sensor better than Motorola is doing with the other one...

Berserker, 03 Feb 2023🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 S23 ultra has rounded corners? Nice photoshop,t... moreGood observation. Even I have doubts about other mobiles too.

[deleted post]That's fake as hell. Clearly not the S22/S23 Ultra. Those are all the same damn phone, LOL.

The 12mp jpegs are atrocious. 50mp seems nice. 200mp shows that it would have been way sharper it was stopped down to f2.8 or f4.

There are also some samples on dpreview forums if you are interested

So they have release S22 ultra again now with 0x MSAA =)) Pictures are way too over-sharpened for my taste. I prefer S22U shots

I'm not sure about the added sharpness BUT it's a nice thing because you do get more detail. Yes it's a little, vut it's more detail. And you can actually use an app to clear the noise afterwards so no biggie. With the s22 you cannot add detail that wasn't already there.
I cannot load the 200mp one for obvious reasons though.

[deleted post]Did you seriously think the video you linked was real?
God, some people are really terrible at spotting obviously photoshopped images, aren't they..

Both S22 ultra and S23 ultra have essentially the same image quality. The difference boils down to post-processing approach. The S22 ultra has too much softening and noise reduction, resulting in a soft watercolor-like painting while the S23 ultra has too much sharpening and grain enhancement to fake additional detail, but fails at it miserably with the clouds ending up like a grainy pointillist sketch. Which is better, water color art or pointillist sketch? Difficult to choose between the two. Just get a Pixel 7/7Pro.

Anonymous, 02 Feb 2023I think even a little difference is worth it. You will buy ... moremy midranger smartphone already work for 5 years...

The oversharpening on the S23 isn't flattering... We have to see the 200mp manually shrunk images. The 48mp samples from the iPhone 14 Pro models are nicer.

Well, the main cam is better on S23 (S22 was just junk with its overprocessing) but now S23 tele x10 sux: the noise level is unbearable.
