Is the 200MP camera better than the 108MP one?

Remember, Oppo has been using a type 1/1.56 for two years, and now they are finally switching to a type 1 sensor that can collect 2.5 times more light (assuming the same F-stop as last year). I can't wait to see how they can improve image quality with a much larger sensor and a new image processing chip. Find X6 Pro is the phone I'm looking forward to buying if it gets priced right where I live.

Rimas2, 02 Feb 2023Try to downsample this pretty bad looking at a pixel level ... moreI've already done that and I'm not very impressed - The level of detail is *largely* comparable between the two, and while the downscaled 200MP photo does preserve slightly more details than the native 50MP photo especially around the centre of the frame, the difference in texture retention can be also attributed to the amount of sharpening applied to each (50MP arguably has more sharpening baked into the image, which distorts the most intricate textures). If anything, the 200MP photo doesn't look like it's capturing 200MP of details anywhere in the frame.

What really bothers me a lot, however, is the colour rendition - All the colours that have been properly rendered in the 50MP mode are looking a lot more greyish and yellow-green-tinged in 200MP, with much poorer separation of colours within small details. The only use case in which I believe this mode would turn out to be beneficial is when you are shooting in black and white where you could entirely ignore the colours and appreciate the more natural-looking details, but even then, I don't think it's worth the tripled file size.

The S23 photos seem to be overexposed a bit, strange.

The corner quality of the S23 beats the S22 big time. Actually I've noticed that the S22 Ultra corner quality is quite poor on the usual comparison tool on the website, I wonder if it's something from the particular sample you guys have. One can check comparisons between S22 ultra and S21 ultra, to see that the corners on the S22 have a problem, they are very soft

And thats why you dont need to upgrade your samsung phone every year

            Looking good

What a disaster, basically same pictures, same sensor size increased pixel count mean shit. Oppo, Xiaomi Vivo simply will destroy Samsung this year with 1 inchers it is embarrassing to wath Samsung cash grab this year

Mapantz, 02 Feb 2023What is the S23 doing to the clouds? It looks like they are... moreIt is the perfect example of how overprocessed and oversharpened those pictures are. Ridiculous.

Only oppo is gonna fail to do same.
                  As always.

Expect the photos to have same ugly wax looking of previous find x and oneplus.

What is the S23 doing to the clouds? It looks like they are being mottled by a paint brush. Not only that, the 10x zoom on the S23 looks way worse than the S22.

Have you got them the wrong way round? For all of that marketing spiel in their unpacked event, those images do not look good.

Insert "they are the same picture" meme 😆

It seems that the S23 ultra's main cam is far better than S22 ultra. Look at those pictures. S23 U's produces more bright and sharp results, inside and outside. The S23 U's 3x tele also produces slightly better than S22 U's. But the S23 ultra's 10x tele cam might not be matched with the new algorithm so it produces more bright but softer and less focus pictures than S22 U's. I wonder how the main cam of S23 U's managed to produce 10x zoom or more by cropping it at the center and then scale it up.

5HOGUN, 02 Feb 2023I have Note 20 Ultra with shitty Exynos what about me. Find a better job.
                            Just joking.
I've replaced my beloved note 10 plus aura glow with the s21 ultra and im very compeled to ditch the s21 u and go for the note 20 ultra.for some reason i find the design very good looking.
If you dont game you should be fine even another couple of years, replace the battery and you are fine.👍

Ok, played with 200mpix a bit. I used any method (from slowest to fastest) to downsize potato 200Mix to 50Mpix, and suddenly, resized 50Mpix photos look very decent, way better than Samsung's own 50Mpix photos. With more detail and without oversharpening. I'm not sure, what kind of people Samsung has in their denoise and resize software departments, but those people have their hands growing from the wrong places.

Plovdiv , 02 Feb 2023 I think that shutter lag will be the same, because the pho... moreIt is the same for all smartphones, that have not terrible implementation of the higher res sensor. Taking photos with full resolution, and then downsampling them gives much better results than what we get by default. With lag, I meant just get iPhone 14 pro or Samsung galaxy s22 ultra in hand and take photos in full res. Full sensor readout just takes so much time there. I thin there is some optimization of how the signal is being read from the pixel I lower resolution. It takes less time but in cost of the quality.

                                    I don't see much difference,
                                    - the phone is wider much thick
                                    - sounds better but not as good as s21 ultra ,I'm sad
                                    - no mmWave 5 g antenna for Europe, another sad news because is 200 $ more than the US version with this future
                                    - no free Bluetooth headphones or charger for the ones who preorder one
                                    - I play with one today so that's my findings!
