At least you now admit that you made a mistake. You now lvled up from n00b to newb.

I'm guessing that the North American variant will likely see an early September release date as the previous iteration (Xperia 1-IV XQ-CT62 version which supports full 5G bands in Canada/USA as opposed to the the XQ-CT72 International/Global variant which came out in June), or are we anticipating an earlier release date this time around?

It would be nice to have SD8G2 on an Xperia 1-V ASAP, it's the only high-end flagship that caters to audiophiles with the right Bluetooth codecs (aptX Adaptive/Lossless/LDAC) and a 3.5mm output (even though it's not a dedicated DAC) - both decently tuned for music enthusiasts and have the option to disable downstream EQ/DSP postprocessing effects as opposed the ROG 6 Pro which sounds terrible despite having support for the above codecs.

"Thus, we're left with three big sensors (they look bigger than on the 1 IV)"
We're left with a different design of the back panel, which does not indicate there is a different sized component inside. Please don't mislead people with pure speculation, thanks.

From my experiance have XZ1 for five years very very durable , sold one two years ago and the second one 6 months ago , my two XZ2 compacts , first one faults with the bottom speaker and microphone were suseptible for hardwere faults , second one stolen was ok , bought the third one from aliexpress as a backup , the problem it is originally from Japan so the main searcher is japanease so I have to switch to google , not a hard task everthing else going well in english , and my latest 5 iii is the most durable phone on earth you have to shot it or drive over with tank to break it

Poppy10, 05 Feb 2023"it goes like this: you get into Photography Pro set t... moreYou don't make an ajdustment everytime just set it one time.

But anyway do this for fun cause this is notorious where Samsung fails at "AI":
Take a picture of your dad in a shorts if he has hair on his legs. Then watch the magic happesn as the sharpest part of the image would be your dads hairy legs and not his face.

I have S21 Ultra and it fails in many situations. It makes up the sky for example, sky in real life is white cause its a one giant atmospheric blob but phone would color it birght blue like its a sunny dayu with no clouds. it oversaturate kids photos. It oversatures flower photos. It oversharpens high frequency like sand and rubble or thick foliage. It tries so hard to edge define objects it makes them look like they were photoshoped in. When you shoot against the light source HDR output would shrink that light source to a size of a dot.

On the other hand Xperia fails in completely different manner: it underexposes most of the time, it trades shadows in order to contain highlights, it has no sense what it should do once it detects a face as it only exposes for the face and nothing else in a photo. It doesn't fix banding, frindgeing, flaring and ghosting which should be elemental post production procedure which don't require any AI crap. It does none of those things in nether auto nor manual mode. It's also slow at focusing, it can't determain whats the actual shooting subject if there is a lot going on in the scene. Low light performance is beyond predictable if there is only one light source and outcome is crap and useless.

And on my Samsung and Xiaomi phones I click the photo button and that's about it. Great looking photos every time, with all the necessary settings made automatically by the AI/software. Nobody can be bothered with delving into the settings and making manual adjustments every time they take a photo. I'd I wanted that I'd buy a DSLR

Poppy10, 05 Feb 2023The photos on Xperia are terrible. They are so many years b... moreThey are not terrible, they are good. What makes you think they are terrible is your expectation what good photo should look like. On a small screen to make it even more irrelevant.

Of course Xperia can do great images in automatic mode because except M mode all modes are auto modes. It goes like this: you get into Photography Pro set the mode to P and then choose if you want HDR, HDR burst, continuous or single autofocus, center or wide focus, spot metering, eyetracking and that's about it. Once you setup that all your images will come constant to your preferance.

The only time when point and shoot is really point and shoot is when it comes to moving subjects. And when it comes to moving subjects Xperia is one of the very few that can lock focus and exposure on moving subject and continuously recalculate is as you burst the shot. Xiaomi can't do that, iPhone can't do that. That means that only the first frame will be properly lit and focused while all others in burst sequence will not.

All other point and shoot scenarios are when you take your sweet time to adjust the frame for that stationary slice of pie image which really doesn't make it a point and shoot since you are once again taking your time.

Anonymous, 04 Feb 2023I doubt it. Sony never leave my country to this day.Same here in Malaysia. I thought Sony left my country and came back when the 2020 Xperia 1 Mk2 was launched, but I later found out it wasn't the case. My country did get the official local set of the 2019 Xperia 1/5 and 2018 XZ2 series/XZ3.

If you want a simple point-and-shoot operation, there are better phones to choose from. For photography enthusiasts like me who always turn the AI off and love to shoot in Manual mode, the Photo Pro app is an absolute belter.

"A claim that goes against long standing knowledge."

Lmao. Please explain how the display techs work, I've asked 3 times now and you keep avoiding it. Let's see if what I said goes against "long-standing" knowledge.

"So now by your own logic back up the false claim you started."

                                You're really good at deflecting.

                                Anyways, I accept your concession.

"Why he in gsmarena and speak about a topic if you don't know what you're talking about and go against the evidence provided on the site?"

You keep saying I don't know what I'm talking about, but I'm the only one between us who explained something. Again I'm not talking about phones only, I literally said that in my last post. Please read with your eyes, I'm referring to the display tech. Also, I'm referencing LG the company, while you reference GSMarena. No shade to GSMarena, but which one do you think is more reliable?

LCDs have a backlight that can just be lit up more to make it brighter and since the materials aren't organic and rely on the backlight they can go brighter as well without shortening the lifespan. OLEDs have a limit since they are using organic materials. The more power you use, the faster you burn through them.

Sure the OLED tech on phones can now get them brighter than what they were able to go, but LCDs are still superior when it comes to sunlight just because of how the tech works. I'm not saying one is better than the other, but that each has its own use case in certain scenarios.

The photos on Xperia are terrible. They are so many years behind competitors in terms of AI and processing. There's no point in having good hardware if you don't have the software to support it. The vast majority of people use their smartphones for point and click photography. With the Xperia those photos look terrible, you have to delve into the settings and make manual adjustments every time in order to get a good photo. Nobody is going to bother with that, especially when the phone costs 3x the price of a Xiaomi that takes far better pictures at the click of a button
