dt031sin, 14 Feb 2023Lumia phones had Windows phone and it was a legit option fo... moreIt's not HMD, but every single brand at the moment. If you think HMD is terrible, kindly please take a look at other brands as well. 😊

Samsung made a good reputation by implementing OLED displays and comparatively durable bodies in their lower end and midrange phones. Now most of them use PLS LCDs for low to mid end phones, along with flimsy ODM designs, even in flagships. At the same time, upgrading from an existing model leaves a lot to be desired.

BBK made a good reputation by having a variety of brands, by implementing a feature-rich stock-like Android on their OnePlus phones and selfie filters to attract customers on their Oppo and Vivo phones. Today they are just ODM devices that look nothing like what we used to see, and are overpriced in non-competitive markets.

Lenovo made Android devices affordable for developing countries. Today they are "tarnishing" the Motorola brand name by competitively priced, yet flimsy ODM phones with a poor update schedule.

TCL started by licensing some of our favourite brands from childhood such as Alcatel, Blackberry, Palm and Panasonic. Today they struggle with a brand identity.

Xiaomi started with implementing great specifications and good build quality at a cheap price. Today they launch mediocre phones with neither a brand identity, nor good successors to existing models, as with Samsung.

There are a lot of examples so I believe it's best if you think before you comment. Have a nice day 😊

My first three phones were Nokia (6300, C5-03, Lumia 520). I have also used HMD's Nokia 8.1 and it was a great phone at the price but given liitle software quirks with Nokia and it's bad implementation of in display fingerprint sensor in recent phones and them trying to ride on pureview brand just hurts the Nokia brand and nothing else.

Old Nokia phones offered innovations in camera, design and niche features others weren't even offering.
Today's Nokia is just another android brand with nothing that stands out. HMD is just riding on old Nokia nostalgia and name with nothing to else to offer other than what others brands are already offering.
Some say sony is also selling phones with higher prices but you can see how well it is going for them, still atleast they offer something out of ordinary and stick to their design decisions.
Today's Nokia is just a shadow of it's former past.

This phone launched in Sep 2022. , but this same phone will be launched in India very soon. Then what about three years security updates for phone. We are already missed 5 months security updates and phone security updates support also almost 2.5 years not get full 3 years support also.
This phone price also doble price when we compare to Xiaomi , Vivi , Oppo , Realme. This phone battery capacity is not enough for this price.

Carol, 12 Feb 2023Sorry what device do you use? To call somebody an idiot you... moreDon't get me wrong here this Nokia device is not a bad phone. This may even be very good but in a vacuum.
With all the advancements in software and hardware during recent years and all the other major players around it, it lacks in comparison. Also, the software might improve with time but people prefer to buy a device with what is offered at the time of purchase, not future potential. And given the lackluster chipset and Nokia's track record of software bugs this makes it harder to recommend as they need more refined software to properly optimize the experience from the provided chipset and it seems doubtful given HMD's limited resources.
Also, launching a device 6 months late doesn't help either, it drives away potential customers, even with all the shortcomings many would have preferred the Nokia phone, instead they bought some other device as simply it was not available.
The more delayed a launch is, the more chances of newer hardware overshadowing it.

jerry, 12 Feb 2023We like Xiaomi , Vivo , Oppo , Moto and iphone. This phone ... moreThen Apple iPhone is definitely the worst value you can get from any mobile phone in India, if you consider Nokia's pricing in India. Take it or leave it.

Apple is great at making good first impressions to consumers but reality starts to reveal after 2-3 years of use. Nokia may not be good at first impressions but their products improve with use.

Carol, 12 Feb 2023Sorry, but that would mean a shot in the foot for them. And... moreI feel bad for them since they're managing with a relatively small amount of resources yet making full use of them, and sadly Indian people make first impressions based on the price tag and try to buy phones as soon as they launch (I have no idea about the majority but the whining minority in GSMArena is a tiny amount of the people actually living in India).

In my opinion, the best way so far to win customers in India is by launching phones at a comparatively low, yet fair price from the average (too low will be critically harmful for them as a company and too high will off put customers) and inflate it over time without sacrificing quality.

But this phone is not fullfil our requirements and price also over priced. Wait and see, INDIA will becomes No.01 for electronic items manufacturing country in the world very soon.

Swaraj , 10 Feb 2023And compromise on quality like rest of the manufacturer? ... moreUnderstand the frustration, but i think that you do not understand the problems and how hard it is for a company like hmd to sustain itself in a market full of chinese garbage and not only. Yes a bigger company like lenovo would be able to keep their losses in check till the devices take off and become popular, because they sell other products too, hmd is in comparison very small and cannot take losses like that, not even close. Also hmd would not be able to compete with aggressive pricings, that would mean to install trackers and ad engines so that they can at least make some money after sales, or just produce garbage devices, to be able to sell cheap. Eitherway, that is not their policy, nor their ethics. So, they are a bit higher priced, but we talk a small company here in comparison to samsung, apple, google and whatever others. So i find that they actually price their devices in accordance with their business model and they do not have way more revenue then other manufacturers, more like less even if it is a bit more expensive. It all comes down to what they are left after the whole production support "nine yards" and believe me is not a ton left afterwords. Hack they started to cash in only in 2022, after almost 5 years of market presence.

Comparing to chinese manufactures, people might call them greedy bla bla bla, but they actually are not greedy at all, sell any cheaper and they would have been gone by now. I am actually glad that they are still here, and hope that they will get bigger, better and that at some point, they will also be able to innovate and crush the idea of "nothing matters as long as you have cpu and ram" that chinese manufactures managed to install in the brains of way to many people, that don't know better.

We like Xiaomi , Vivo , Oppo , Moto and iphone. This phone specs are not match with our requirements. This phone price is double compare to other phones. We can buy two Xiaomi phones for this price.
Too many decerations for this phone outside but inside the phone there is nothing special (Ex: batter capacity is very low).
