Question is what about those mid rangers? i mean budget devices are pretty much screwed in terms of os updates. Samsung offers long software support on their mid rangers as well, the chinese brands are only catching up now on why Samsung and Apple are still number one. They only realized it in 2023.

      Long software support on their expensive phones since they are waay overpriced already. What about their overpriced budget and mid range devices?

        Also since the Smartphone innovation is slowing down & companies are releasing more or less same phone every year,now it makes little sense to upgrade phone every 6-12 months.
        So keeping your phone for atleast 2-3 years is good.

        No about your point that older version androids have nothing wrong & newer versions don't make them obsolete,then believe me if you are on 1-2 year older versio nthen uts absolute fine but if you are on 4-5 years older android then you'll find many "Not compatible" apps that require higher version.

        I sed my Zenfone ofr 4.5 years & it was on Android 9 finally & finally,at that stage my banking apps started atleast version Android 10.

            If you often buy new phone, you have no right to demand long support.
            Want long support? Fine, just keep your phone at least 50 months, instead of using carrier deals or trade-in to get new one and later complain it is minimum upgrade over previous generation.

A34 is too new to tell but even chinese phones of present year will get more than 2-3 years before.

                    And IP rating is nothing but a costly gimmick not worth to have since no company gives you water damage warranty and no phone with IP rating is water proof only water resistant.
                    Buying a water proof cover for 2 bucks from Alliexpress makes more sense than buying a water resistant phone which can die in first contact with sea water.

                                  One really important comment to the team at GSMArena: Oppo said during its presentation that it committed to 4 years of major ColorOS updates. They never talked about Android updates. It's possible to have two major ColorOS versions based on the same Android version.

                                        Also dont forget the sales. 99% of chinese phone user are using phone with short software support.👍
