Anonymous, 16 Feb 2023Chinese OEMs gonna used it paired with imx766(or hm6)/ 8MP/... moreUFS3.1 may not be the most recent, but it is still fairly fast. Plus, 7200 is supposed to be a mid range chip, something to battle the 7 Gen 1 to be exact, so flagship features aren't to be expected.

If the spec sheets are true to what you're writing, I reckon the market will appreciate it as long as the phone's price is less than USD400 (for a 8GB/256GB config)

Anonymous, 17 Feb 2023Did you not read the part that said 100 to 120 in Manhatten... moreIn GFX Manhattan ES 3.1, a Mali G610-MC6 inside the D8100 can only reach 111 FPS in 1080p offscreen mode. And that's with six G610 clusters. D7200 only have four of those, so performance reduction is to be expected. Except Mediatek uses older ES 3.0 or something, then the 100-120 FPS result might be slightly believable. Always view internal testing with a fair amount of salt.

Just look how a 8+ Gen 1 with higher frequency sustained on TSMC's compare the 8 Gen 1 with Samsung's.

We can ask what kind of preasure OEM had to use 888 and 8 Gen 1...Qualcomm already did in the past according to some judges.
I can understand why 8+ Gen 1 had good sales.
Technically, I can't understand why 8 Gen 1's sales were better than D9000's

Nevertheless, if less efficient, Samsung's 4nm is probably enough for 2 Big cores limited 2.4ghz frequency

JG, 17 Feb 2023Samsung's fabrication node has really made these chips... moreYour Samsung fab claim makes no sense. Why is there still literally TONS of Snapdragon 888, 888+ and SD 8 Gen1 phones around? All made on Samsung's fab node. It's just SD 7 Gen1 that no one bothered with for some reason. And it's certainly not because it's fabed on Samsung's node.

Apple is an ecosystem, and a great one at that. They used tried and tested tech, so they may be a bit late in some areas, yet cutting edge in others.

Androids are for the other kind. This all sounds like a white box vs branded pc debate from the 80s and ita got to stop.

This 7200 is a 4nm TMSC node, so it should get more distribution if the price follows accordingly. Hope to see some benchmarks soon.

Or perhaps, there's plenty of 768 in the warehouse

Gonna be a while before this hit the market. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 was released last year and so far only 1 smartphone was released using this chipset. These high end chipset are getting more expensive over time.

Alex 94, 16 Feb 2023Sd 870 is faster soc, still best upper midrange soc, beside... moreWith its new A715 core I don't see why it will lag behind a 870 even with two less big cores. The GPU though would be just as fast as SD 7 Gen 1 though as G610-MC6 inside a 8100 is barely compete with a SD 888, and this will have two less cores than that. So I guess CPU performance will be comparable where D7200 may take the lead in single-core department, while all other departments will lag behind SD870. Still a great chip overall

I hope the successors to the Unihertz Tank and Doogee V Max gets this chip. Once we get to 4nm, the battery efficiency can go way up.
