Anonymous, 18 Feb 2023Plastic back makes flagship phone look and feel cheap. Just... moreI wonder why some people think that plastic look cheap. Because GSMArena says so? Many expensive products use plastic. Both plastic and glass are cheap materials. Plastic is widely used because it's durable.

SShock, 18 Feb 2023This is why I don't understand manufacturers bothering... moreSapphire is much more brittle than glass. It's a very bad idea to use sapphire on phones.

Anonymous, 18 Feb 2023Polycarbonate: cheap feeling, bad for the environment
Meta... moreMan most people buy case so it really does not matter anyway. And wireless charging is so useless. It makes battery hotter than normal charging and is way slower that regular charging. I know for some people is this mandaroty tech but when you can use regular charger and electricity you dont need to use wireless option.
Rest is garbage.
People will always complain no matter what.
You cant satisfy anyone thats impossible.
Especialy with Samsung which is costly full of bloatware called one ui and uses super slow ancient dark age charging technology without nay kind of charger in the box.

Anonymous, 18 Feb 2023Plastic back makes flagship phone look and feel cheap. Just... morethis is utter nonsens and contrived logic - plastic feel cheap so in order to protect premium glass I'll slap a plastic cover in it... 🤦♂️
yes, there were great PC phones in the past an I'd argue they were lot better than now. one thing - they weren't so slippery ald cold when touched... i do wish they would come back, with removable case and battery (and don't start with idiotic IP standard - those can still be achieved and replacing battery after a 2 years would be simpler and cheaper)

Anonymous, 18 Feb 2023Polycarbonate: cheap feeling, bad for the environment Meta... moreThere were polycarbonate phone designs in history that didn't feel cheap, such as the old Lumia phones or the Pixel 5. My personal favorite was the old Nexus 5 type of polycarbonate.

Anonymous, 18 Feb 2023Metal back = No wireless charging I feel like they should use metal backs on cheaper models or at least on models without any wireless charging planned in the first place. It's sad to see aluminum unibody phones go the way of the dodo.

Metal: no wireless charging
Samsung tried to have a flagship phone with a plastic back. People complained. People even complained about the iPhone 5c, which had some technical advancements compared to the 5 it replaced at the same price (new LTE radio, bigger battery, better front camera) but traded metal and glass on the back for plastic.

This is why I don't understand manufacturers bothering with shatter resistance. It's glass, it'll break on drops sooner or later anyway no matter what they do. Scratches, the greatest evil I have to endure on ALL phones no matter how careful I am with them however can be avoided by using very hard glass or preferably sapphire. I have several watches with sapphire crystal. Guess how many of them have scratches. NONE. Phones however, all of them had scratches. And no, you can't always use screen protectors because of curved displays and they are just annoying with raised edges where dust starts collecting and it just looks and feels awful.
There's nothing worse than pulling phone out of a pocket and seeing deep scratch that happened literally out of nowhere that could be avoided by just using harder glass/sapphire. Drops can be avoided, these random infuriating scratches cannot because they just happen even when phone is seemingly safe and secure in a pocket.
