Anonymous, 22 Feb 2023Good. I wish they released fewer phones, but better phones ... moreNot sure if 1319 EUR (sold by Cdiscount.com this afternoon) for the 13 Pro is 'good' given the software support provided. But I'm eager to see how the IMX989 will perfom and the tweak from Xiaomi ✌

Anonymous, 22 Feb 2023Inflation bro They're not marking up The component p... moreIn China prices have not really gone up for most brands and replacement component prices are similar to a year ago. A lot of price increases are also due to currency movements. For Chinese brands selling in Europe for example the Euro is a lot weaker than last year. Let's estimate roughly 10% weaker against the Chinese yuan (rmb). The Chinese companies operate in rmb so if they sell for the same price in Europe and convert back to rmb then if the price remains the same as a year or a year and a half ago they would be getting much less rmb today. To get the same in rmb they need to increase the euro price to account for the currency movement

Releasing too many phones and giving horribly slow update support. That's what Xiaomi does.

But atleast in India, Xiaomi is in the process of marking up their devices. Earlier Xiaomi Note series phones used to retail for 25k INR max, now it's 5k more.
They could also bring that same justification to their flagship phones and do a markup of 15k more as the other competitors have also done the same.
Previous "Flagship" prices (besides Samsung and Apple) were 50K approx. Now it's increased to 55k~65k

The markup in Europe will be around 55-65% on Chinese pricing but I'm not that familiar with Indian pricing. The global lauch is supposedly on February 26th so we should find out global prices soon

Redmi is the budget and mid ranger brand (upto 30k INR in pricing this year - Xiaomi Note 12 Pro Plus), while Xiaomi is pricing it's phones from 35k INR and above (atleast for the 11 series, we can probably expect a price bump if they decide to bring the 13 lite etc series over)

HopeFilledIdiot, 22 Feb 2023Besides just a few subtle tweaks, the 12S didn't offer... moreIt had a much better main camera sensor and a much better chip but than was it really. Xiaomi is not really a value for money company anymore though in terms of the Xiaomi brand. The Xiaomi 13 is more expensive than all its competitors in China at present e.g. Oneplus 11, Motorola x40 and Vivo x90 . They have given up on the value for money idea with Xiaomi branding where they are trying to crack the high end market, and now the value focus is left solely to Redmi

rizki1, 22 Feb 2023this is better, 12S series is not popular and not sold in m... more12s series is only in China but it was quite popular. The reason for the 12s series though is the 12 series had the rubbish snapdragon 8 gen 1 and it was a very unpopular model in China due to the bad overheating and bad battery life. The 12s series was much more popular due to the improvements from the snapdragon 8 gen 1+. This year the snapdragon 8 gen 2 is good and there is not going to be a big improvement on it before the snapdragon 8 gen 3 so there is no need for an s series
