The 13 and 13 Pro are launching in Southeast Asian countries tomorrow and if my source is correct, they are priced significantly lower that the prices for Europe.

Too expensive? Who will buy them? Well - they have a China market with more than 1 B people, I think that will be enough for them.
Plus, they have a lot of “meat” to decrease the prices if they need to.

Remember when flagship Xiaomi phones didn't cost a fortune? I do, Xiaomi really peaked in 2019, the Mi 9 was great, Mi 9T was monster of a midranger and Pro version was true flagship killer, and don't forget the 10 Note, a midranger with monster of a camera setup, since then it's mostly been downhill.

I thought about waiting for 13 series instead of getting 12x, but I am glad I got the 12x cuz I simply wouldn't be able to afford vanilla 13, and it's not even that big of an upgrade compared to regular Xiaomi 12 which was like 200-300 euros cheaper.

At least the lite version looks like semi-okay deal at 500 euros, tho only after reviews will it become clear.

Honestly at 1000 euros, might as well get a Samsung, while I like MIUI more, I expect the Samsung to be more consistent and reliable user experience, also longer support.

Hopefully Xiaomi comes to their senses in 2024.

They will sell hardly any at those prices. However good the hardware is, people will always pick a well known brand like Samsung or Apple over any of these fringe brands in the West.

I want to see this 6.36 inch screen with so little bezels on something like Redmi note series and i would consider to buy one as the same size like the Xiaomi 13 is.

For now i am looking Pixel 6a that is in that Xiaomi 13 size with 6.1 screen and i lose out on faster charging, 120hz amoled screen and no 3.5mm jack as i can afford to lose these options for just a bit more compact in size phone.
While i dont play games i dont need that 120hz screen as Pixel 6a have 60hz OLED that be fine for me. 18W charger is a let down but well i now also have 18W on my 5 years old Redmi note 5 pro so charging part wont change much for me.
I can learn to live without 3.5mm jack as there are options for wired headphones that have type-c connector. I dont like to buy new headphones for that sake only and i dont like that the type-c port will get a lot more ware thanks to that.
But i am willing to sacrificethese things as the Pixel 6a at the moment cost 359 euro and it's CPU/GPU give something 700k Antutu v9 score so it is basically around Samsung S21 FE level of power

If only Xiaomi would make something of the size as there standard 13 model for middle class and budget then i would pick them as with Pixel i get it to Android 15 and have security updates for at least to year 2026 As with Xiaomi that be a wet dream for even there latest models if they cant come out with 13 at the time when 13 is out for few months already so they basically rip you off with there 2-3 android update promise as not coming out with latest android with new models so in a few months they give you update for android 13 and then you have 14 and 15 left to get while should be for 16

Android makes best sense as flagship killer range. 1000 euros but no 6 year of updates means you lose so much money on trade in later. Depreciation is rapid. So it works out overall as more costly than an iphone. Makes no sense at these very high prices. Android should offer value to compete with Apple at the top end of the market.

thedeev1, 26 Feb 2023What about the Oneplus 11 then?? It sells so much cheaper w... moreOnePlus 11 is technically a high mid range phone with 8g2

Xiaomi is so confident about the price because people will buy it anyway, even if it only had micro usb rather than usb 2.0! Remember the Note 12 series price hike and the sales record they set even after so much negative talk? Idk this time what kind of world record xiaomi is going to claim. Thanks to blind followers who are already here to defend it.

After reading through reviews from different sources, the overall experience of MIUI 14 is better than before.

This price is absolutely NUTS !!
I pre-ordered the s23 ultra for only 1049$ in my country and received it with a galaxy watch 5 44mm as a gift, so seeing this cheaply-built chinese phone with its ugly UI selling for 1300$ is really absurd !!

It is still quite a bit cheaper than the Xiaomi 13 though. I personally think the Xiaomi 13 is more overpriced than the pro model

Why would anyone spend 1000$ for a phone that has the worst software that needs to get flashed in order to be usable which requires knowledge and breaks the warranty and that gets 2 android updates at best?

No, this is just a case of Xiaomi thinking their brand has more value than it really does to pull people away from Samsung and Apple flagships.
