YouTube will stop showing overlay ads on desktop starting next month

07 March 2023
Overlay ads appear on top of the video as it plays, which tends to spoil the user experience, so they are going away in favor of other ad formats.

Tigolebitties, 08 Mar 2023The blatant stereotype-These naive little boys when mentioning that someone is from china are only reflection of their pathetic parents which are still not adult or I call them adult kids and they teaching their little brats how chinese phones are bad (especially usa or uk) and are taught how only iphones are best. The uk people are basically deluded by usa and convinced to buy only iphones .. Of course there are ppl that have androids but those are older ppl not youth. When my 10 years old daughter told me that whole class has iphones but she has android phone, it tells how usa propaganda works extremely well in uk is just crazy. And then theese little boys comes here on these smartphone websites just troll .. And the irony is that absolutely no one chinese person or individual or especially youth never ever visits these websites as they have their own maybe some will but never register ..

Never used default YouTube App on my mobile phone to watch the videos on that small screen. I always prefer Desktop browser with couple of Security & Privacy add-ons installed, to watch the videos in full screen mode. I had almost forgotten that YouTube shows ads before, during and after the video, as I had never seen any such thing.

Adegbenro, 08 Mar 2023I'm surprised people still watch YouTube away from the... moreWhat? watching on mobile phone is more power efficient than my laptop with i3-7020U especially if it's set at 60fps video.

Anonymous, 07 Mar 2023Worse than what? My S23 Ultra screen looks greatBecause you do not know it has 8bit, 240Hz flickering, bad calibration ( vivid/punchy is opposite of accurate), bad brightness distribuition and slow response.

Screens sold to apple, bbk, xiaomi and sony are better

Just use Opera browser, it has built in adblock. There other alternative browsers with this functionality too.

As far as Youtube changing their ad system, it might actually be their attempt to get around adblocks, i really fear if that day comes when none of adblocking solutions work.

Just use newpipe on android and adguard on desktop, haven't seen ads more then 10 years now.
But i am able to see how badly ad-infested the web is when installing new systems, until i reach to the part where i configure them. Boy is it bad.

Just as I opened this article, an ad with a little x appeared on the bottom and it didn’t go away after pressing the x because it was bugged. It only worked after reloading the page. Funny
