Is Samsung's Moon shot feature fake? What even is fake these days?

Aside from the look of their software, I think their design language is boring, but of course that's all subjective and their charging tech is too slow for my usage, this is why I stay away from them.

Kudos for explaining it and offering the option of switching scene optimizer off and a manual mode.

Oh… and i am sure no one buys this phone for taking moon shots. If you take 3 to 6 shots during a one year period will be more than enough for many… It’s a nice thing to have (for fun) but definitely not necessary on your daily needs.

Moon shot or other shots every shot in a Smartphone is heavily processed before you see it as the final image on your phone. Since smartphone camera hardware like lenses, sensors etc are always limited by space and power hence Smartphones vendors are forced to depend on advanced post processing using software and hardware features like AI assisted ISPs in the modern day SOCs to improve image quality as much as possible. Due to these technological advancements in Smartphone camera, it was able to replace entry to mid range digital cameras completely from the market.

Of course it has to use AI and some algorithms to get some shots of the moon. What do you expect from a smartphone camera nowadays ? The impossible? Get a dedicated camera for that purpose only. No smartphone will ever rival that. At least Samsung does a better job then most counterparts…

According to you then all NASA's space samples are fake. Because space telescopes take dull, colourless, almost blurry images because of interstellar obstacles like space cloud, dust, nebula, clusters and so on. But all NASA does AI enhancement with adding colour, details, removing obstacles, ML computing and so on, then research those samples.

No wonder why the community of Apple Bot raised this issue.

Mindi Jnr, 16 Mar 2023'You don't like Samsung' This settles this... moreNo, I don't, but as I said it before I still think Samsung has the best camera setup with the S23 Ultra, it's their fakery and way of misleading customers that I don't like. I also dislike the look of One UI, which I know can easily be changed, but I prefer to just buy a phone and leave it as is.
Ultimately Samsung has a lot of advantages over other companies (like software updates) that I wouldn't take advantage of, that's why said S23 Ultra isn't my choice.

phones had the whole ai-enhancing feature for almost a decade now, and this case is no different. imo samsung just didn't give enough detail about the moon shots so people thought it was completely natural and all.

All photos are processed in smartphones, so technically all modern smartphones make "fake" photos. Also count processing edit to portrait photos - blurring background, editing skin tone, making eyes bigger, chick thinner and so on; photos of landscapes - making sky blue richer, grass more green; or just highlighting shadows. Moon shot is fake, but portrait and landscape genuine? Mhm, sure :D

DarlingYext, 16 Mar 2023I did. Do I disagree with it tho? Yes.I disagree.

But let's say they aren't, because I don't think it matters. The end result is the same, you end up with a photo ot the Moon that you didn't take, but Samsung promised you would be able to take. That's the problem here, misleading advertisement to fool people.

The S23 Ultra has the best camera system right now on any phone, I don't like Samsung, but even I can see that, them faking something was just unnecessary and looks bad on them.

Smoothing out something means polishing. Not removing obstacles as all phones do. If the dark circles get removed and completely banished it's called AI enhancement.
