Also, a new benchmark for iPhones. In terms of Androids there's the Z50 Ultra with just as, if not thinner bezels in addition to an under display camera instead of ugly holes in the display.

Imagine being so cozy and uncontested in life that negligible changes in the bezel size of disposable phones is a source of enlightenment.

Anonymous, 20 Mar 2023Apple's App running at 60hz beats any androids running... moreNot true at all. My Pixel 4 with 90Hz already looked way smoother and last time I compared my iPhone 13 Pro to a XIaomi flagship, the Xiaomi was way smoother with the animations.
Not a fan of Xiaomi but they are doing a way better job.
Yes Apple invested more in animations but Android already catched up.

Apple's UI transition is top notch. Even Samsung took years to catch up.
and only Apple's flagship chips can make full use of 60/120hz gaming. That include budget iPhones. Budget Android is just too laggy. Good for endless scrolling in the desktop.. nothing much.

Doesn't change the fact that a 60 Hz panel is always too slow to look smooth, it doesn't have the capability to show frames fast enough to fool the eye.

Just because cheap Android phones that have high refresh rate displays struggle it doesn't justify not having it on base iPhones, they're insanely overpriced with specs that barely compete with other phones for like 600€

Who cares? Thin bezels don't matter when you still have that big fat dynamic island.. Even Apple users are starting to say that it's distracting and also, many ask for an under-display-fingerprint-reader. Just as fast, but more reliable.

UltraHD, 17 Mar 2023Once i experienced 120hz, i couldn't go back to 60hz. ... moreHigh refresh rate needs to be paired with good specs too. Otherwise is just a nice number on paper.
I found out on my own, that vanilla iPhones with 60Hz refresh rates (for example 11, 12 or 13) are smoother in day to day tasks, than some Android phones that have 90Hz or 120Hz, but with poor specs.
Bottom line, high refresh rate is nice to have and is most welcomed on mid-range or flagship devices, but I think in cheaper phones, is just a sneaky way for manufacturers to make people buy certain models. In reality, it doesn't make the phone smoother. If anything, it makes the battery deplete faster. And is not necessarily needed on iPhones. Maybe 90Hz on vanilla iPhones could be nice, but I doubt people will not buy iPhone 15 if it will come only with 60Hz refresh rate.
